Okay, I have been running with "Riddick is pretty broke now" but I should at least make sure: was he not PAID very much for his boarding house? Or paid at all? Or was he paid fair market rates and he's really just pissed off about having not wanted to move?

He was paid and more than a pittance, but not anything near the fair market value of what had been a pretty nice boarding house. (Grandpa Rome Romulus Silverman was being something of a cutthroat dick.) And it's probably likely that a lot of his money went to trying to fight the takeover of the block and failing.

Additional questions for modly types! Roderik is doing a lot of digging in the library and the council hall records, as much as he's allowed, looking for old maps, diaries, records of deals for sale of land and businesses, and anything related to the Duskling quarter. What will he find?

Also, how DID the Duskling family manage to kick him out for so little? Was government involved, or was it overwhelming force of numbers, or was some kind of trickery involved? I have people asking, and I'm finding I need details >.>

Essentially, the more conniving Dusklings, the Silverman family in particular, are taking shameless advantage of the confusion inherent in the circadian divide. The further back Roderik digs, the more blatant the land grabs used to be; three or so centuries ago, Romulus Silverman's MO was literally 'tell people in one 'sider district their shops/homes/etc. have been bought out by the other side, take over, profit!'

Especially along the borders, who exactly owns a given shop or house can be difficult to discern. There's nothing strictly illegal about these land grabs; otherwise the council would be more than happy to deny them.

These days the land grabs are wrapped up in legalese and the occasional bribe to get someone to look the other way. The sale that included the Moonlight Lodge likely claimed sheer force of numbers, but whether any given Duskling is aware of that varies, especially among the more recently immune or allergic Dusklings. Most of them just want a place to live unharassed and a say in the council's decisions, and don't know how the Dusk District was secured.

Okay, well, this is what Riddick finds this week then XD Or parts of it. He's also supposed to find out about the warehouse, but I don't think he'll visit it until next mingle, to add to the case to take before the council. He'll also be looking into Silverman specifically since he got the tip to, I'm assuming that MO stuff is what he'd find?

CAN he find a potential bribe involved in the sale of his own business, to pin on him specifically?

He can certainly find evidence of a bribe in the Moonlight Lodge sale.

The worst of Romulus Silverman's MO was conducted along the border of Noire and Sun, until he'd secured ownership of every building along the border. After that, he eased into the 'legalese and bribery' tactic with a side of shady business practices.
