RULES
1 } RESPECT. ➟ Please respect your fellow players, your mods, and the game! This is by far the most important rule. Treat your fellow players well. Be courteous, try to be understanding, and remember that this is a hobby and we’re all supposed to be having fun together. Remember that your mods are people, too, not faceless authority figures (but don’t disregard that authority). If something in the game concept or a specific plot doesn’t appeal to you, feel free to let people know, but don’t try to subvert the game into something it’s not. These are the keys to everything running smoothly. Most importantly, do not insult or abuse your fellow players. Do not try to make them feel unsafe or unwelcome. If for some reason you cannot get along with someone, simply don’t tag with them. ➟ Read: ✔ the rules ✔ the FAQ ✔ the mod posts ✔ the setting and plot posts Synodiporia is a plot-heavy game. While you’re welcome to stick to slice-of-life shenanigans if you prefer, we do insist that you stay informed on rules and setting details. We want to collaborate with you in a universe where it’s easy for us all to suspend our disbelief, and that means everyone needs to know the basics of the situations. We promise we’ll do your best to intrigue & entertain you, and we won’t waste your time. ➟ As much as you can, coordinate with your fellow players. Plan crazy stunts or investigations. Plan parties! Get to know who you’re in the game with, at least a little. But just as importantly, if there’s a problem, don’t bottle it up. If someone hurts or offends you, or behaves inappropriately, tell them and try to work it out. A lot of drama starts with simple misunderstandings. Let’s try to avoid that. If you talk to someone and they’re a jerk to you, tell the mods! We may not be here to fix interpersonal disagreements, but our ability to locate problem players and keep the game running smoothly depends on your willingness to tell us when something’s going on. Please, do not be afraid to talk to people in this game. ➟ Be mindful of the IC/OOC divide. 4a. Keep in mind that what someone’s character does is not necessarily reflective of their own views or personality. 4b. No godmoding. Don’t attempt to control other characters or make assumptions about their actions and capabilities without first clearing it with their players. This includes securing OOC permission before using a Psychic, Liminal, or Jaunt skill that directly affects another character (examples: Filter Intrusion, Summon Traveler). 4c. No metagaming or infomodding (except for cheap tricks). Keep in mind that you may well know more about a given situation than your character does. Have some fun with your character learning gradually, or jumping to incorrect conclusions sometime. 4d. Also, please remember to maintain the fourth wall with other players! If you’re confused about whether a given action was IC or OOC, keep rule 3 in mind! ➟ Stay in-character. This is, of course, a matter of interpretation and difficult to enforce. But do try to keep in mind that your character’s mindset may be different from your own, and try not to inject your own opinions and biases too heavily, especially when they run counter to a character’s canonical tendencies. That said, however, please also be willing to take into consideration any suggestions or concerns that others present to you, especially when providing canon facts to support their reasoning. Sometimes, we don't realize how OOC something might be until another pair of eyes points it out. ➟ Our current character limit is three characters per player. If you consistently make well above standard AC with all your characters for two months, you may petition the mods to allow you to app another, but we feel that five is a pretty good cut-off point for a plot-heavy, medium-paced game. Likewise, our current cast caps are ten characters per canon and one hundred characters in the game. Thanks for understanding! ➟ G through PG-13 level entries and comments are welcome on both the main community or the psychic network. If any of the content in a post is likely to be triggering, the mods will ask you to warn for it at the top of the post. In the case of graphic violence or suggestive/explicit sexual content, the post will need to be friends-locked, content warnings added, and the post itself placed behind a cut if it contains not-safe-for-work material. ➟ Copying text from someone else's applications or tags without permission and attribution will not be tolerated, and is grounds for immediate disciplinary action. ➟ We're playing a game, it's |
