"The hokey pokey," Lovers repeats. "You put your left foot in." She lifts her leg in front of her. "You put your left foot out." Back the leg goes behind her. "You put your left foot in and you shake it all about." Back in front goes the leg where yes, she shakes it. "You do the hokey pokey and you turn yourself around," she says, setting her foot down to make a single revolution. "That's what it's all about!"

After a few moments she takes pity on him. "It's a dance," she explains. "I learned it while I was at Heartbeat Academy."
