Other Multidimensional Beings

During their travels between worlds, the Travelers have very occasionally run across other beings that can detect or manipulate Liminal Space and the Psychic Network. While the nature of this interference is often unknown, here’s what we’re sure about (and toplevels in the comments for further speculation).

The Spark Hacks The Psychic Network
In the Spark, some of the locals managed to use their technology to intercept and jam signals on the Psychic Network. The only other being to intrude on the Network was the King In Yellow, and he presumably used non-technological methods to do so, so what this implies about the nature of the network is unclear.

The Illuminants
The forests of the Kingdom of Dolorosa are home to some very odd beings - the Illuminants. Each one of the eight gains their power from a specific set of archetypes, determined by their color. Many of the Illuminants have also referred to the Arcana as "big brothers and sisters", indicating the Illuminants seem to understand something fundamentally about how the Arcana function and operate. Some Travelers have theorized that the Illuminants are akin to "proto-Arcana" - weaker beings who function similarly to the Arcana as a whole.

In a combined effort, during the Misericordia walkabout, the Illuminated were able to pierce into Liminal Space from The Fae - a realm of magic and monsters that is superimposed over the world of Dolorosa. This seems to indicate the Illuminated have some sort of Liminal power, but not much else is known. Some Travelers consider the Illuminated to be a threat equal to that of the Arcana.

The Starmovers
A spaceship using presumed Starmover technology, including some sort of proto-Starmover elemental material in its reactor chamber, caused distortions in Liminal Space. Additionally, the Arcana have been concerned enough about the Starmovers to repeatedly explore their worlds and their technology. In the Summer Solstice Walkabout, an installation with dead Starmovers was found, and the Winter Solstice jaunt centered around humans re-enacting a ritual in a Starmover facility which they believed kept their planet habitable. Regardless, Starmover technology is beyond anything else encountered on Jaunts, although some of the tech on Junkworld bore a resemblance to human technology on the Spark… During the Welcome To The World Series Event, there was a space which was interpreted by some Travelers as a warning about the Starmovers’ ability to… well… move, kindle, or extinguish stars at their whim.

The King In Yellow
The Lovecraftian eldritch horror known as The King In Yellow managed to invade both Liminal Space and the Psychic Network during the Harrogate Jaunt. Precisely what happened is unclear, but it appears either the King crashed Liminal Space & the Network, or the Arcana shut them down as a precautionary measure. After the Jaunt, the Yellow Sign repeatedly appeared in Liminal Space, and acted as a potential portal for lesser eldritch horrors, until something resembling a Valence from Questing Country obliterated the Sign. Certain Liminal Spaces since have occasionally included an eldritch ambience, although what precisely that means is a matter for speculation.

Questing Country
Questing Country itself appears to be a kindred variety of Liminal Space, existing in the same universe as the Starmovers do. It has been speculated based on the way the Arcana removed the Yellow Sign from Liminal Space that it is possible the Arcana needed to learn how to create Valences - implying there are things about Liminal Space beyond their regular understanding or control.

The Manticore
The Spirit World in the universe of Newport shared certain qualities with Liminal Space, and the Manticore and humans there regarded Travelers as dimensional invaders from some unknown corner or variant of the Spirit World. Likewise, exorcism abilities tuned to work on Spirits successfully ended Infiltrations, which the locals thought of as a form of possession. Travelers learned that the corpses they left behind on their previous visit to this world had decomposed into ectoplasmic goo.
