How did the network function at the time of the first jaunt here?
Unless someone used Image Projection or Sensory Livestreaming to actually make their voice audible on the network, messages on the network carried very little emotional tone or nuance - network communication was more like text messaging than voiced conversation.

What tree skills are available for halfvestigators to use?

Double-infiltrators will be bumped to ‘halfvestigator’ status. Memory Restoration works as normal on halfvestigators.

Are there any roles you're like double infiltrators to fill? Also more generally, how do you want us to handle icons/accounts/that nonsense???

Double infiltrators can infiltrate as anyone setting-appropriate you'd like. Handle icons/accounts however's easiest for you, just make a note of it on AC submissions if you use a different journal.

This mostly got answered on plurk- for double infiltrating, I would essentially be playing Franziska?

For half-investigating, yes.

For double infiltrating, you're free to make up an overlay that suits either Pearl or Franziska, and the other one can be confused as hell later.

How would halfvestigators and double-infiltrators read to Yukki if she tried to read their perspectives?

Also, was the process of bringing in new Travelers similar to how it's done now, i.e. showing up in Liminal Space before the next Jaunt rather than dropped in en masse at the beginning of the Jaunt? Also, how new would the pre-Moebius 'overlays' be to Traveling in general, or is that something that's going to come up specifically at some point? (Basically, would they realize something's weird?)

Will a dubfiltration resemble the base traveller (Berne, in my case) or the glitched traveller (Nabiki)?

As to the third, if they're not one of the Unlucky Dead, Travelers of this era would have three jaunts under their belt at most going into this one. That might be enough to notice a deviation from the pattern, alongside the sheer size of the influx that'll be 'dumping current Travelers into the mix.'

Would the concept of a walkabout be known to them? I'm guessing not, at least for the ones who aren't Unlucky Dead, but just to make sure.

Speaking of death, do they know that dead Travelers are brought back? And do they know not to get killed in Liminal Space and more importantly why?

Also, had any of them met any of the Arcana in person pre-Moebius?

Halfvestigators & Double-Infiltrators would read like Infiltrators!

Can she tell which Infiltrators?

They do not read appreciably differently than any other infiltrator!

So she wouldn't be able to tell that, say, Bernkastel is Nabiki or Kurama is Raidou? (Sorry, I could have asked that more clearly - she's being asked if she can tell who's who.)

She could ask a single question or guess "Is Bernkastel Nabiki?" and find if the perspectives match, but could not tell in the abstract who matched whom.

Yukki is probably going to be spending the majority of the rest of the Jaunt trying to remember what happened the last time out. Is there anything in particular that might spring to mind during week 2?

There is a storm coming, and what Yukino can scrape together suggests it's going to be a doozy. If the rustlers aren't properly prepared and/or in the caverns by the time it hits, they stand to lose most of the cattle.

OKAY so Riddick is working on rebuilding his memories of this Jaunt, as he always does when he gets new memories, but in particular focused on events that might be important or that will help him/the other Travelers this time around. I need to know some stuff he would get, that could be right or wrong for the current version of the Jaunt. Ideally he'd get a bit of each, so he could mess up but still not be useless?

The heist itself seems to have gotten off to a rather messier start, the first time around. (Also it seems to have been coordinated by Remy, which is weird.) They did not hit the canals with all of the cows; at least a dozen were left behind, possibly two.

The storm, in Riddick's reconstructed memories, is not as bad as Kinji's nightmare suggests, that being a worst-case scenario. It's a doozy of a weather event, though, and while it tapers off in the daytime, it doesn't truly let up for a few days.

He can also scrape together some kind of confrontation at the far end of the canals, but the details aren't clear.

What might she remember about the original Jaunt this week?

Last time, it seems the leader of the heist was Remy, not Casper. And he chose to press on through the canals during the storm.

This went about as poorly as you might expect.

Based on this, I think she may want to try remembering who was who in general last time, or at least those Infitrators who seem important this time, and how their behavior might differ between the two Jaunt iterations, in addition to trying to remember what happened.

OKAY. So. There are definitely people who were Infiltrators the first time that aren't those Infiltrators this time. Either they're Investigating this time (in handwave handwave we aren't hearing from most of the past Traveler Investigators because no one's playing them but they're still there land) or they're background Infiltrating as someone else.

Remy in Casper's role is one of those people. As you might have guessed, all the plot roles were filled by different people the first time around. Yukki might not be able to connect names to everyone who were those plot roles, because she might not have known them at the time of the memories she'll get back. She can for some of those people, however.

The Mayor of Ridge Rock wasn't Gil last time but a fellow named Outis (or was it Otis?) and his guile levels were off the charts.

The sheriff wasn't Melissa but another (very intimidating) woman, who was extremely relentless in tracking down lawbreakers and not much inclined to mercy (but was inclined to hitting things with a whip or maybe a crop or a switch.)

Taichi wasn't Shiro but a man named Kiriya and Taichi's brother Keith wasn't an Infiltrator at all last time. The guy Altair is now was a man named Roland last time. (She might remember that Kiriya turned into a motorcyle once somehow and that Roland had a horn that was very important to him, but that's not actually from the Jaunt. That's just random other information about Travelers in question.)

She also doesn't remember yet the names of the guys who were infiltrating as the people who Felih and Inigo are now, just that they're not this time. But the guy Uchii is now was a guy named Xavin last time.

So! To sum up:

The biggest behavior/what happened difference she can remember AS OF YET is how much scarier/more intimidating the other sheriff was. And also Remy!Outlaw Leader being an idiot about pressing on through the canals.

... because of which there were maybe twenty cows out of the original seventy IF THAT which survived the storms. And mostly not the bulls, because they prioritized keeping the cow cows alive because milk.

Is the Scary Unnamed Former Sheriff around as an Investigator, or is she Infiltrating as someone else?

Infiltrating as someone else. ~~No matter who she ends up being when we open up the cat box.~~

And there was no way of swaying her to look at Erebus's wrongdoings even if one could get past the intimidation factor? I'm assuming that's the case, but just to make sure.

The first time around, the Travelers didn't have nearly as much knowledge of Erebus' wrongdoings! They didn't know anything about the money laundering because there was no one to use Insight on Erebus. Also, Nabiki never got de-infiltrated, because no one had Memory Restoration, and so the information about some of the cows not actually being Erebus' didn't reach Ridge Rock/the outlaws in time to prevent Something Going Wrong later in the Jaunt.

(Yukki doesn't have the memory of What Went Wrong back yet, though. We'll fill you in on that next week.)

Anyway, without anything to specifically pinpoint as Erebus doing illegal shit, trying to get the sheriff to look into Erebus on Just A Hunch that they were dirty did not work. She didn't have time to mess around to satisfy vague suspicions when there were cattle rustlers to catch!

When does the new mingle go up this week?

Now that it's almost the first, What Went Wrong that she can remember?

Continuing on this track... since I utterly failed with the mingle last week, coming back for THIS week to see what else Riddick might have put together from the previous Jaunt! By now he probably ought to have most of the Jaunt itself back, since he works on it nearly continuously (mind palace II is a lovely, lovely thing), but to temper that, his original version back then did not participate in anything, he just lurked on the psychic network and watched things from afar. So he could get the gist of things, but not really any details.

Quick question: can the sheriff during the first version of this Jaunt have been played by Franziska, since Melissa wasn't there? (If not, it's cool. We have Jadis as our back-up, but we thought we should offer you the opportunity to make that decision, since Pearl is borrowing Franziska.)

Riddick might not have participated in anything but he would have MOST DEFINITELY heard about the big shoot-out in Ridge Rock that happened after the storm, where the Erebus Posse reached the outlaws as soon as the skies were cleared. There were some casualties, including two Familiar Faces: Tobi and Kai.

There was also one casualty due to friendly fire: Taichi aka the Washed-Up Outlaw (now Shiro/then Kiriya) was accidentally shot by his good friend the Professional Outlaw (now Altair/then Roland) and died in the arms of the Amateur Outlaw (now Felih/then Otoya.)

There was one other important casualty for the back half of the Jaunt. Since Kamen Rider wasn't there to kidnap her, Faith/Nabiki did not actually get clear of Jonestown before Erebus realized what she did. Her death was staged as an accident, but the Travelers would have heard the real story over the Network when Nabiki woke up as an Investigator. Which, by the way, was the first point at which ANY of the Investigators would have heard about the whole Erebus Stealing The Charity Cows dirt, since nobody had used Memory Restoration on Faith (because none of the Investigators had it) and the unrestored Faith hadn't reached out to Felicia Wheeler to put it on the radio.

In the aftermath of everything, Erebus took back what cows were left, which was less than a dozen.

tl;dr

There was a shoot-out. The weirdo who turned into a motorcycle died from friendly fire, oops. Also, Faith/Nabiki died so Erebus could shut her up about the Erebus Stole The Charity Cows scheme. Erebus got to take the ten remaining cows home, leaving the townsfolk/outlaws with none.

UPDATE!!! The Sheriff was definitely Franziska and the friendly fire death of Taichi was most definitely an accident, even if you don't have all the details on how it happened. I just realized that I hadn't specified that and in fact might have made it sound deliberate last night, since it was late when I did the thing.

You are indeed reading the mingle right and no they did not. In fact, it was the Fish-Mole (as we have been calling them internally) and his contact the Erebus Rep who were the reason that the Erebus Posse found them RIGHT AWAY instead of taking until the third day. It probably came out somehow post-Jaunt.

Since it's kinda on this topic, I'm getting some logistics questions about current placements, scouts, and the like. What could Riddick pick out about the current configuration of guards and such?

Yes.

HI! I'm told that I'm the one who has the knowledge this time, so HERE WE GO.

The security are, for the most part, being housed in the Gelus Vitae, the Bee & Key, and the police station. They have been pretty explicitly banned from the Mayor's place.

While it's hard to tell, they do have people listening in on the commonly used radio frequencies trying to catch communications. They have both vehicles and horses, and there are some who went out on patrols and searches when they first arrived, but they've gotten pretty lazy and mopey over the week, so they're not going out as much anymore.

They do have a couple of guys posted at the end of town closest to the cliffs (where the rustlers will have to come from), but most of them are spending too much time drinking or wandering around poking their nose in everyone's sheds and houses. They do know that there is a barn structure in progress at the edge of town and have guards around that. They have connection back to the City and the drone operators there, who are trying to do most of the scouting - preferably without running into Kamen Rider and The Centaur, who keep destroying their drones.

Sabotage which has been accomplished by week's end:
Vehicles have been disabled. (Horses are untouched.)
Half the guns have been turned into laser pointers. Most of the rest have been cursed.
Nothing to repair electronics can be bought for love or money.
Backup supplies in the city have been seeded with cacti and ruined.
Household garbage has been dumped on and around the leader's vehicle.

Given how late in the proceedings it is, it seems unlikely to be anything useful, but is there anything Yukki might remember this week or have she and Riddick mostly caught it all?
