They're both warrior types, I imagine they moved in the same circles, and Stone could well consider what they have now a wary but not antagonistic rivalry. Like trying to chat with him casually whenever they find each other on the same battlefield, even while Hajime's trying to kill him...

Which would make it harder to hide that he's tired of being a weapon.
