The Phileon project is going to make you the most powerful individual on Earth.

Sure, it's powered by the brain of a forsaken child, but let's face it: that's not the worst thing you've ever done to promote AEGISCorp and its former competitors. Hell, you're already in the lucrative field of weapons manufacturing.

If you play this right - and, of course, assuming you're not all bowing and scraping to a blue space elf tomorrow - being the CEO of the fine people who brought you the Frame that won the war could make you the Federation's Minister of Defense. Then, who knows? Maybe the President Prime Minister of a United Earth.

Until then, smile, shake lots of hands in the EDF, and keep on selling folks on the need to kick those pointy-eared bastards right off of Jupiter.

So, how closely does this guy follow the development processes? Is he just like "as long as you're getting results I'll keep bankrolling your projects without asking questions or having any interest", or does he track everything that's going on in R&D?

Closer to the latter; he takes an interest in major products and research even if he lacks the technical expertise to fully understand them.

So, upon re-reading the Jaunt info:

"research was bought out by AEGISCorp in a deal that included Dara becoming their former head researcher" -- So did Dara ever become the head researcher? If yes, did she and Katsuragi ever work together? Did either Corentin or Katsuragi have anything to do with her disappearance, or would they know any information about it at all? (Basically is there any information within AEGISCorp in regards to her disappearance?)

She was actually the Phileon lead at one point over Katsuragi, but as far as you can tell had an attack of conscience/figured out that Katsuragi was bad news and fled before she could be properly “retired.” You suspect she’s in hiding in the Belt.

Finding her and silencing her is a top priority, and there are top secret doxx about her last known location and attempts to find her!

Did this have anything to do with Katsuragi's plans to kidnap a goddamn psychic alien or did it happen AFTER they captured the Consort? What I guess I'm asking is 'were they planning to get one even before they did' and 'when did Dara go FUCK THIS SHIT I'M OUT?'

okay, stop me if this seems off at any point:

Corentin Shinera, whose last name is definitely not Shinra with an extra letter, is the inheritor of a company that was okay before him and is much, much better now. Unlike other CEOs who turned their father's war companies into manufacturers of children's games, Corentin dug his heels in deep and committed to the technology that will now save the world. It took a lot to get AEGISCorp to this point of success. There were back-room deals, some people who were made to disappear, some scandals carefully crafted and then brought to light... and thanks to Corentin's efforts, AEGISCorp is now the only company producing the technology that the EDF needs to win this war.

He's confident, he's charismatic, and he's just a little bit on the side of being cold-blooded. He knows what to say and when to say it, and when the survival of the Earth is on the line it's So Easy to assure people that it's All For The Best. They might not like it, but what else are they going to do about it?

That is excellent; I'm posting his plotting comment there but yeah, I'm running with canon's "took the rock star's appearance for Reasons" as "screwed up some sketchy research real bad."

Katsuragi appreciates Corentin's dedication to covering his less-than-ethical screwup, and he'll send over a nice bottle of wine in thanks, he knows how to apply a token "thanks for covering up the murder" gift.

In week 4 Yakumo's going to be doing a lot of damage control on Corentin's behalf, including meeting with prominent stakeholders to assure them that AEGISCorp has the situation under control. Company policies are being revised, etc etc, R&D having a major overhaul, etc etc. In light of Katsuragi's recent confessions, AEGISCorp will be conducting a strict internal audit and Corentin himself will personally be reviewing all ongoing projects regarding the development of Philia technology. Importantly, he reminds the stakeholders that AEGISCorp's priority has always been to develop technologies to aid in the protection of Chikyuumaru and all of the bases developed by its defense force. Their investment is in the peace and safety of the world in which they live, and it is not going to waste. (Naturally, plot role skill being used the whole way.)

There's nothing he can do about the spies except damage control, really. And when the fighting restarts, the ESDF are going to need AEGISCorp's tech anyway - so probably most of the scandal will be forgotten about anyway?

Not really sure what to do ahah!
