As Thorne shared with the network, Travelers who vanish find themselves alone in a small room. But it doesn’t look quite as described last time. Paper lanterns hang in the corners, and a lemniscate of live, spicily scented blue roses traces a figure eight on the floor. A little marble plinth sits beside the looping roses, with a champagne flute balanced on it, pink, fizzy liquid quietly effervescing within. In place of the throne that was there before, each half of the loop holds a brown leather sphere - a yoga meditation-ball chair. They’re a little tricky to balance on.


The walls, floors, and ceiling are tiled, a prismatic fade from one color to another, each tile unique, just slightly different in hue than those around it, each colored line giving a sense that it belongs to a bigger pattern, but never revealing enough to allow anyone certainty about what that pattern might be. It is only a glimpse of a larger world… in this small, quiet space.

Elphaba is... rather far from worried about being in the room, it isn't surprising after others have already had this happen to them. She's pretty happy for a chance to actually talk to one of the Arcana, and is happy enough to sink to sit with her back against one of the yoga balls.

The roses are pretty nice as well, and bring a bit of a smile to her face.

"So how's married life treating you, Elphie?" the woman who's suddenly lounging against the other yoga ball asks. "You look good!"

It's the woman who officiated her wedding, of course, although her hair's up in a pompadour instead of down and curly and she's wearing a gold lamé suit instead of the white dress with the feather jacket. Also, she looks younger and not so elf-like.

"I got stabbed." Elphaba replies bluntly, raising an eyebrow "Other than that I have no idea really, but we're giving it a try."

She rather likes the gold lamé suit better than the white dress, all things being told. Then again, she's from Oz.

"What about you, how are you doing?"

[cupidand]

"Pretty good!" She grins at Elphaba. "I'm back in the game."

[wickedestwitch]

"Uhm... congratulations? I think. What sort of game?" She asks, curious. "Not that I'm surprised that it's a game, really."

Especially if it was anything political.

[cupidand]

"Synodiporia," Lovers says, holding up a flute of the pink champagne as if a toast. "Team Lovers made it all the way to the World Series--and I couldn't have done it without you and Zak."

Well, and Jean, but she wouldn't have met him if it hadn't been for crashing Elphaba and Zak's wedding.

[wickedestwitch]

"You do know that we only had that wedding so Drizzt would be safe, right?" She asked, "Not that I don't like Zaknafien but... it may not work out."

[cupidand]

"Sure," Lovers says, blithely. She takes a long sip of her champagne.

[wickedestwitch]

She doesn't exactly have the best track record on this, that's all.

"What's going to happen next anyway? You've got all of us for your game."

[cupidand]

Lovers beams at her. "Next is the playoffs. Phase one we all learned to play the game--Travelers and Arcana alike. Phase two we picked our MVPs and and kept 'em long enough to get the rest of our team and make it to the World Series. Phase three we play for real!"

She seems almost giddy at the prospect.

[wickedestwitch]

"I'm not sure that anyone really learned anything, at least us Travelers anyway." Elphaba sighed, "I'm not even sure if many of them are even all that willing to help, they mostly just seem angry about everything. What are you playing for anyway?"

[cupidand]

"The biggest prize imaginable," Lovers answers, her grin, if anything else, getting wider.

[wickedestwitch]

"Someone you love back from the dead?"

[cupidand]

That gives Lovers a second of pause. "Well," she says in a more sober tone. "Given that we nearly all cared for Hoshiko in the capacity we were able to and the winner might be able to get her back in some fashion... " She shrugs. "It's by no means all we're playing for, but it would be nice."

[wickedestwitch]

"Who's Hoshiko? I'm sorry you lost them... if there's anything I can do to help get them back, I'll try. I mean, as long as it's not hurting anyone else. I made a promise about that, I don't hurt people if I can help it."

[cupidand]

"She was Star," Lovers says. "And... what we get if we win this game is, well, a lot to work with. Having Star and the other three back... well, it's suddenly way more feasible. But if you want to help me win--and I kinda hope you do?--probably the best way is to keep acting according to my ideals. Love. Connection. All that kinda stuff."
