Captains' Collaboration!

If you're not captaining a vessel or leading a school of mermaids, please don't read this.

All right! I was working on the next plot post, with the ships starting to thread through the reefs, when it occurred to me that it would be extremely useful to have a place the faction leaders could discuss their decisions and progress with one another and the mods. This post will be that place, and I'll try to keep it organized, linking to various threaded discussions as they occur.

First of all: it's my impression that, so far, none of the captains are in close communication with one another, working together closely, and none of them has given more than a token acceptance at most to the mermaid offer. If you could, briefly, confirm or deny if that's correct before getting into more detailed discussion, it would help me greatly!

Yeah, when it comes to the other ships I just tagged Hei in his record keeping log today, otherwise Zwei is mostly wondering when/if she should attack them and has told people in the crew they can do little attacks if they want. The only attention she's paid to the mermaids is to make sure she stays clear of them because she's not about to be eaten any time soon.

I know I said I would go to bed but knowing me, I'll lose this and end up doing it late. SO ANYWAY...

Despite her 'dislike' of humans, Yua would keep in contact with the captains but only leave it as discussion to get through the waves and not idle chit chat unless someone throws her off with a question like pains in the fin schoolmates that tempt her to say the fishy version of 'fuck you'. I'm game for any discussions the captains would have had with her prior or future ideas!

Robb has weasled his way out, not wanting to get into fights or get his ship full of new people in danger. He talks to the mermaids frequently to be able to find a safe passageway so he might accept the mermaid's offer.

Adachi's... well, being paranoid, because he's got one person he chased around the sea on one side of him, and another from a country he's questioning what he knows about them from his time in the Navy on the other. On top of new people on the ship. On top of being surrounded by mermaids.

Basically it's not his day.

He'd be open for communication though, but he'll be keeping people at an arms length, with a hand on a gun.

Adachi wouldn't be too keen about the monster, but he's not about to turn back toward the navy either. He'd probably take what mermaids he could and find a way around the beast.

And hell no about the castaway; between the investigators and the mermaids, the Harbinger is probably already over burdened.

If they have the time, get all canons loaded with whatever the hell they can stuff in them -- silverware if necessary -- and fire like crazy to get it to back off or at least stall it enough to get the mermaids, women, and children evacuated. Once the critter gets a hold of them and they can't get it off, then he'll start having the rest of the crew abandon ship.

Zwei votes that the other ships and the mermaids get killed fighting it while the Damsel slips around and leaves.

I MEAN...

She might be willing to assist in the fight just because she wants to get out of there, though with what they have and how she runs her crew they definitely can't do that alone. And while I'm pretty sure she wouldn't be okay with having the leper on-board, but I'd be cool with someone in the crew sneaking him on if that's what needs to happen. Or even someone from another crew. Jerks.

Robb knows the Panlong does not have the firepower to attack a large monster, yet I do not think he would turn his tail and run. I think, for him, the best thing is to device a plan to ensure the mermaids safety. (since they have always helped him) Maybe with some of the Investigators and his men a scheme can be schemed.

Robb will take the castaway, that is the honorable thing to do. :)

Robb will decide to trap the Harbringer to be rid of those navy folks once and for all. The mermaids will help him with that and he'll ask a lot of everyone's trust.

He won't help the Harbringer...he will trap it...

Don't worry you guys, Capt. Robb Stark got this :O

Hmm, Yua herself would be more focused on getting her people to safety even at the risk of her own life which include the Striken. Not sure on what to do about that particular part of the school but the important matter is to get to the shoal.

So that means she would be fine with the ships taking as many mermaids as they can given that they find a way to keep them living and not try to kill them. Before she ends up stabbing them. She on the other hand would stay in the waters just in case or if someone ends up dragging her butt up when it's serious danger time.

Insert the mermaid swear for 'motherfucker'

There would be assistance to get those who can't defend the ship off as well as mermaids. As for the kraken, she and some of the warriors would try to keep it distracted until it decides to want to wreck the Harbinger. She will get injured trying to keep the monster away from everyone else that someone will need to grab her and get her out of there because of her complex of others over herself.
