CHAMPION SUBMISSIONS GO UNDER HERE
As well as qualifying to win one of the category awards, yours will be ranked by the Judges (i.e. Amelia and two NPCs) against the other two champions. These rankings and last week's rankings will determine the starting times for the final event of the tourney.

Student Specialties: Oh HELL YES this is his specialty, and the only reason he didn't bow out after phoning in the performance week.
Artwork: Three to five paintings of different angles of the Queen Elizabeth Theatre. One of them is the spot where Barry's piano and Chie's shoes were before they got sabotaged.
Category: painting
Meaning/Interpretation: ...well, it says he Doesn't Approve of the sabotaging and wants to expose whoever was behind it?
Magical Effects: These paintings should provide a window into last week, and will hopefully expose the saboteur, give or take
jaunt-runner responsehow stealthy and/or disguised they were.Quality: Exceptional
How About That Cranky Judge: She's bound to say something anyway...
Listen All of Y'all It's a Sabotage: Preferably not. It'd make his point a little too well.
Anti-Sabotage Tactics: Naoki's going to have a ward of his own creation up on his studio space. Other than himself, the only person who can get in without his express permission is Rise, since she's the only person here he really trusts. (He doesn't distrust his fellow champions, and doesn't particularly care if they see his work ahead of time, but... he's known them a total of two weeks.)
no subject
Student Specialties: This is absolutely his focus.
Artwork: A plush dragon, roughly the size of a dog. The head is felting, with embroidery detailing, the body, tail, and limbs are knit, and the wings, scales, and spikes are crochet.
Category: Textiles
Meaning/Interpretation: Strength through unity, unity through diversity.
Magical Effects: Each of the techniques adds a different effect to the piece. In addition to being animate (knitting) it's a ward against various kinds of ambient and targeted magic (crochet), projects a feeling of comfort and relaxation (felting), and the embroidery detailing throughout enhances each of the previous effects.
Quality: Exceptional.
How About That Cranky Judge: Of course!
Listen All of Y'all It's a Sabotage: Yes
Anti-Sabotage Tactics: Aside from the complete piece itself being a ward, he's spent most of the previous and current week stashed up in one of the Lone Star Wagons, and as of the performance round, he'll be sleeping in the wagon with his supplies and project. Additionally, any wards against magical effects he has will be set up with his projects when he's not physically with it.
Artwork: A square of knitting, roughly a foot in size, with neither end of the stitching secured, so anyone could unravel it.
Category: Sculpture (interactive)
Meaning/Interpretation: Keep rebuilding
Magical Effects: When unraveled, the knitting will reform. When burnt, it will protect itself, as long as some part of it is still knit. The same goes for any other magical or physical attack- as long as some part of it is knit, it will reform and resist the attack. Additionally, as soon as there is slack available, it will start to reform.
Quality: Exceptional.
How About That Cranky Judge: Of course!
Listen All of Y'all It's a Sabotage: Still very much a yes.
Anti-Sabotage Tactics: See previous entry.
no subject
Student Specialties: He normally focuses on performance poetry, written poetry is something that he's been trying to bring up to level for the last two years, but definitely isn't as strong for him
Artwork: A written poem
Category: Writing
Meaning/Interpretation: 'The truest form of protection comes from love'
Magical Effects: It creates a ward that protects the holder from magical effects. The ward will hold up against four or five good spells before it gives in.
Quality: Good. Unlike his performance entry, it's pretty clear that his heart isn't in the message, and it's fairly low on creativity. However, the form of the poem is good, and the spell holds up well, so the technical side is definitely there.
How About That Cranky Judge: Yes!
Listen All of Y'all It's a Sabotage: Also yes!
Anti-Sabotage Tactics: Since his work is a ward, he doesn't feel it necessary.
no subject
Student Specialities: This fits into Vicky's specialisation in metal and woodworking
Artwork: A bare metal tree with small metal butterflies perched on it
Category: Sculpture
Meaning/Interpretation: Change and dreams
Magical Effects: If you shake the tree the butterflies take off and form an image of an object appearing in the person's most recent dream.
Quality: Decent, possibly above average of what is expected of someone Vicky's age but her inexperience still shows through
How About That Cranky Judge: It's time to cry
Listen All of Y'all It's a Sabotage: Go for it, it could be interesting
Anti-Sabotage Tactics: There are some simplistic wards against tampering that Vicky had to add to the statue at the last minute, but they aren't something she's ever had to do before.
no subject
Student Specialties: Photography, this is absolutely his specialty!
Artwork: His serious photography can be hauntingly beautiful. It's a black and white photograph on a dreary, foggy day on campus, showing a large crowd of students moving about but one of them -back to the camera- is standing dead still, drawing the eye as fog and people subtly roll and move around them
Category: Photography
Meaning/Interpretation: It's supposed to represent how someone can feel absolutely alone even when surrounded by people.
Magical Effects: The longer someone looks at it, the more lonely and rejected they start to feel, which he hopes will open people up to being more empathetic to others that seem lonely.
Quality: Exceptional
How About That Cranky Judge: Oh yes!
Listen All of Y'all It's a Sabotage: only if they want a trio of angry trouble makers on their ass from here on out :3
Anti-Sabotage Tactics: Since it's a framed 8x10 photo, he's going to keep it on him until he has to display it. He put a few charms on it, for while it's on display. It'll shock people who touch it for longer than 10 seconds and will start screaming bloody murder if anyone but him tries to pick it up. Otherwise a simple shield to repel any liquids that might be thrown at it.
If scrying via photograph is something he could do, then he'd do that too.no subject
Student Specialties: Photography, this is more a sculpture but it was made with camera magic
Artwork: Something similar to this illusion sculpture. He'll build it right where it'll be displayed by bouncing each ball and freeze framing it by snapping it with his camera.
Category: Sculpture probably.
Magical Effects: When the sculpture is looked at straight on, it will show that which the viewer is longing for the most.
Quality: Exceptional/Good
How About That Cranky Judge: sure!
Listen All of Y'all It's a Sabotage: sure!
Anti-Sabotage Tactics: Since he's building most of it there it'll be harder to get messed up, but he'll keep his bouncy balls in a safe place and have them all warded up like his photo entry. He keeps all his cameras on him at all times anyway so they're safe.
no subject
Student Specialties: Sculpture's his specialty, yep.
Artwork: Some small ice sculptures of animals, just big enough to fit in your hand, as well as a larger ice sculpture of a skull.
Category: Sculpture
Meaning/Interpretation: The smaller sculptures are supposed to represent hope and life and happiness, while the larger skull is supposed to be a memento mori, reminding people that everything is temporary.
Magical Effects: The larger sculpture doesn't do anything special, the smaller sculptures move about (the snake curls around things, the birds can hover slightly, etc.).
Quality:... They're between Average and Horrible, tbh. The skull is more average than horrible.
How About That Cranky Judge: Nnnah.
Listen All of Y'all It's a Sabotage: Sure!
Anti-Sabotage Tactics: No... but Casper can track by scent, so if he gets a whiff of something strange he can look into it.
no subject
Student Specialties: Coding and digital art are his specialties, yes.
Artwork: A piece of digital art - a painting of an ocean with a thunderstorm lancing out lighting to the surface of the water.
Category: Multimedia/painting/digital art/whatever that category is
Meaning/Interpretation: Disquiet, discomfort, and distrust.
Magical Effects: The picture begins to make the viewer more and more uncomfortable the longer they look at it, until their anxiety spikes.
Quality: Good
How About That Cranky Judge: Not for this piece, but...
Listen All of Y'all It's a Sabotage: Sure.
Anti-Sabotage Tactics: Nope.
Artwork: A computer monitor with his code running in the background, which has an AI drawing randomized pictures and patterns.
Category: Non-traditional art
Meaning/Interpretation: Change, innovation, The Future Is Now
Magical Effects: As each painting is finished, light appears above the monitors, until the lights blend together and move around. (A bit like the old iTunes visualizer.)
Quality: Exceptional
How About That Cranky Judge: Yeah
Listen All of Y'all It's a Sabotage: Not for this one.
Anti-Sabotage Tactics: Aside from the fact that the code is insanely complex, he's been tweaking the thing up to the deadline/demonstration so I'm not sure there would be a chance to sabotage it.
no subject
Student Specialties: He's a photographer so this is his jam.
Artwork: It's a series of photographs of a thunderstorm.
Category: Photography
Meaning/Interpretation: Look at nature, nature is great, also look at Kurihara's prowess in photographing lightning, he's great too.
Magical Effects: The photographs can actually be used as a power source, because they've effectively trapped that lightning. There's a lamp plugged into one to illustrate this.
Quality: Exceptional
How About That Cranky Judge: Sure!
Listen All of Y'all It's a Sabotage: Sure!
Anti-Sabotage Tactics: Kurihara has mostly prowled around it looking like he will repeatedly punch anyone who tries anything, but seeing as how he is more concerned about his sister's work staying safe and still needs to attend classes and sleep and stuff, he can only do so much. There is also a puppy who will try to watch over it, as Ryo is eternally loyal.
Student Name: Zedward Masters.
Student Specialties: His specialty is glitter and this involves glitter.
Artwork: It is a glorious painting of Elvis riding a rainbow train done on a black velvet canvas using glitter paints.
Category: Painting
Meaning/Interpretation: Zed remains very oblivious as to what riding a rainbow train may accidentally hint at and really just likes trains and wanted to use all the colors, and his overlay wanted to do an Elvis thing anyway because sequined rhinestone jumpsuits are inspirational, and so this happened.
Magical Effects: When the light hits it just right and it glitters just right, it plays music.
Quality: Whether or not it's Average or Horrible largely depends on one's opinion of velvet glitter paintings, really.
How About That Cranky Judge:
but making him cry would assume Zed has shameSure!Listen All of Y'all It's a Sabotage: I don't think his artwork actually requires any sabotage because it's so...Zed...but sure!
reverse sabotage to make it decent plsAnti-Sabotage Tactics: Nothing intentional, but it will be very difficult not to track glitter away somehow if one lingers in the presence of this work for too long. The glitter Zedward uses is pervasive and unyielding.
Student Name: Sento Kiryu
Student Specialties: Physics and math and he's not really much of an artist.
Artwork: He's just going to plop the 4Koma Ninpoutou down on a pedestal.
Category: Non-Traditional Artistry
Meaning/Interpretation: Action! Excitement!
It means his canon is designed to sell toys.Magical Effects: Sento would prefer to argue that this sword isn't magical, it is scientific, though he will restrain himself from doing so. But when he properly activates the sword with the corresponding Fullbottle, he'll show off its flame-making capabilities--he sees no need to go into all the other stuff it could do, because that might be dangerous. Because a flaming sword isn't too dangerous as it is.
Quality: Good
How About That Cranky Judge: Sure!
Listen All of Y'all It's a Sabotage: Sure!
Anti-Sabotage Tactics: The Fullbottle that the sword needs to function will be a booby-trapped fake if Sento isn't there. Trying to use the fake bottle will just make a little flag that says "Too Bad!" on one side and a little smirking chibi caricature of himself on the other pop up out of the lid, and the sword won't function without the proper one. Because Sento is feeling petty and vindictive, it will also try to eject a small bit of sneezing powder into the would-be saboteur's face.

Student Specialties:
minifigsSmall scale sculpture / diorama buildingArtwork: Battle Chess but physical
Category: Sculpture
Meaning/Interpretation: Games are awesome and fun look at this this is so cool.
Magical Effects: The chess pieces move when their moves are called and when one moves to take another, a small epic battle is played out.
Quality: Exceptional
How About That Cranky Judge: She can try, but... he kinda won't care because he's far too hype because GUYS LOOK WHAT HE MADE THIS IS AWESOME.
Listen All of Y'all It's a Sabotage: Suuuure
the minifigs might attack if they're messed with but it'd be like being stabbed with a toothpickAnti-Sabotage Tactics: See aforementioned toothpick defences
no subject
Student Specialties: Game Design
Artwork: A 216 card playtest set for Star Aria, which is basically Magic: The Gathering in space.
Category: Multimedia or Nontraditional.
Meaning/Interpretation: Cautious optimism for the future and for Progress (TM)!
Magical Effects: While playing, the battlefield flickers into holographic reality around the players. This is less impressive with the original Escape Velocity-ass programmer art she has for the game but it's still kind of cool.
Quality: Exceptional game, horrible horrible programmer art presentation.
How About That Cranky Judge: If I have time I am absolutely down to get clowned on.
Listen All of Y'all It's a Sabotage: Yep.
Anti-Sabotage Tactics: If the physical cards are messed with, her secure laptop has all of the info and she can run this shit digitally.
no subject
Student Specialties: Calligraphy
Artwork: A poem in Japanese style calligraphy describing a sakura tree
Category: Writing/Calligraphy
Meaning/Interpretation: All of the usual "beauty is ephemeral"-type messages. The beauty of this sakura will endure but if the writing is destroyed so too will the beauty be destroyed. He's... He's very Japanese.
Magical Effects: Sprouting up out of the parchment/calligraphy is a miniature version of the sakura tree as described in the poem. It looks like a 3-D watercolor, not completely substantial, but soft around the edges. If you read the poem aloud, small sakura petals drift down from the branches and are absorbed into the parchment.
Quality: Good
How About That Cranky Judge: Nah
Listen All of Y'all It's a Sabotage: Sure
Anti-Sabotage Tactics: The knowledge that it will Make Ucchii Sad if his work is sabotaged? Otherwise he's pretty trusting so he wouldn't have set anything up.
no subject
Student Specialties: Genre Writing, Sewing/Textiles/Costuming. So yeah, this stuff is totally her focus and you can tell.
Artwork: A short-story about cryptid hunting in the Santa Cruz mountains. It's done as a series of journal entries by one of the cryptid hunters. Despite this, the story makes it clear that the cryptid in question is meant to be sympathetic.
Category: Writing
Meaning/Interpretation: What measure do we use to define a what a person is? Should magical beings/cryptids be dragged out into the world just to prove they exist or should they be allowed to live out their lives in peace and obscurity?
Magical Effects: Alternate narrative! This is Charley's specialty for her short-stories. As you read her short-story, you'll experience it not only from the written perspective of the narrator, but also from the cryptid that the narrator is hunting.
Quality: Exceptional
How About That Cranky Judge: Amelia already shred her dreams over her musical flirting. Let's not have that again.
Listen All of Y'all It's a Sabotage: Sure? I mean, her anti-sabotage tactic is kind of pathetic.
Anti-Sabotage Tactics: She's keeping the story within her computer until literally the first morning of the exhibitions and then trusting to Minerva's statues to keep it safe in the exhibition hall.
It should be noted that for both her short-story and her costuming/textiles entry, she started prepping and even began writing/embroidering them well before the trip--which is actually not against contest rules, surprisingly enough. (Mostly because of photography students--but it's a useful loophole for everyone.)
Artwork: A series of four embroidered cloaks, each with a different motif: bones, marigolds, quetzal feathers, monarch butterflies.
Category: Costuming? Textiles?
Meaning/Interpretation: It's one big meditation on Charley's Mexican-American heritage, which is why she's using motifs that have significance in that culture.
Magical Effects: When you put the cloaks on they change from having the embroidered motif to seemingly actually be made of that which is embroidered. So a cloak of bones, a cloak of flowers, a cloak of feathers, and a cloak of butterfly wings. Once they're taken off it's back to embroidery.
Quality: Exceptional
How About That Cranky Judge: Again, she's already suffered through Amelia's wrath once. Once was enough.
Listen All of Y'all It's a Sabotage: Again, her anti-sabotage efforts are lame, so you could certainly do the thing.
Anti-Sabotage Tactics: Keeping them locked up in a trunk until the exhibitions start, then trusting to Minerva's statues to keep them safe in the exhibition hall.
no subject
Student Specialties: Singing, dancing, acting...she has zero Perpetual specialties
Artwork: A silver bracelet
Category: Metalworking or jewelry-making?
Meaning/Interpretation: Rise has no particular meaning behind it. In fact, she's using her own expertise as a Traveler rather than her Overlay's, since she took a crafts class once. It's...still better than what her Overlay would come up with.
Magical Effects:
+50% SPIt's magically invigorating and will give the wearer additional energy, particularly for creative or magical endeavors. A muse's bracelet, if you will.Quality: Average
How About That Cranky Judge: It's simple and workmanlike and kinda lumpy. Have at it.
Listen All of Y'all It's a Sabotage: She's up for it again buuuut...
Anti-Sabotage Tactics: ...she's been sneaking off to do most of the work in Liminal Space. This is also based on a design she came up with in canon but never finished
because no romance route back then, meaning it's all in the head of someone unconnected to this particular world. She's also keeping the work in progress and finished product on her person specifically to see if she can catch someone trying to pick it off of her (she will use Infiltrator Mind Reading if someone starts acting suspicious. She doesn't want a repeat of Pogemon.)no subject
Student Specialties: Woodwork, metalwork, clocks. Yes, it is his specialty.
Artwork: A golden automata clock. The base is a gold clock, on top is a golden birdcage that contains two carved birds, a carved butterfly on top of a golden bud, which sits atop a 'waterfall' made of glass rods. When the clock strikes the hour, the music box inside plays a tune, there is the sound of birds song, and the birds appear to hop from one branch to the other, the butterfly flaps its wings, and the glass rods spin to give the illusion of falling water. It is basically this.
Category: Probably mixed media sculpture?
Meaning/Interpretation: It's not deeply meaningful, though if it were to have a message, it would probably be that everyone needs to take time out from life to enjoy beautiful things.
Magical Effects: When the clock strikes and the animation begins, a magic field falls over anyone within a five foot radius that effects time. Those inside the field, for the space of about 60 seconds while the song plays, will experience everything inside the field as normal, but it will seem like everyone outside is moving incredibly slowly. For those outside the field, it will seem as though those near the clock have suddenly become super speedsters, moving impossibly quickly inside the field. In the field, the space of a minute will pass in about 5 seconds to the rest of the world. This has very little practical benefit or effect, as moving outside of the field subjects the person to normal time again, however it might be a handy way to have a conversation or communicate with someone without being spied on, since those outside the field cannot see or hear quickly enough to be able to interpret what those inside the field are saying or doing.
Quality: Exceptional craftsmanship, average to below average magic - the effect is pretty cool, but it's very easy to interrupt or break and it serves no real purpose.
How About That Cranky Judge: Amelia may certainly critique Nigel.
Listen All of Y'all It's a Sabotage: It could be sabotaged, but as I am entering this late, I think that's all been parseled out.
Anti-Sabotage Tactics: Nigel keeps an eye on it, but no specific magic is guarding it. He assumes his piece will likely not be targeted.
no subject
Student Specialties: Yes! Her specialties are metalwork and jewelry-making
Artwork: Paired woven silver and moonstone bracelets, which can be interlinked to form a large cuff bracelet
Category: Jewelry-making. Could possibly fit under Costuming in a pinch?
Meaning/Interpretation: Our strength is in our connections/no one is an island
Magical Effects: Both bracelets contain a ward to eliminate (or mitigate, if it's a strong one) hostile or unwanted magical effects on the wearer. If both bracelets are worn by different people, the strength of the ward is trebled. If both bracelets are worn by the same person, the ward is cancelled - this is a deliberate effect, and one Alice will include in her explanation of how the thing works.
Quality: Exceptional
How About That Cranky Judge: I play both of them, so nah.
Listen All of Y'all It's a Sabotage: Yes
Anti-Sabotage Tactics: She's kept it under lock and key and strung with little metal ward charms, most of which just scream like a banshee if anyone tries to tamper with/remove the lockbox, but some of which will have effects on any would-be saboteur - garishly died hair and/or skin, a foul smell that will follow them around, 'thief' scrawled across their forehead in indellible ink, that sort of thing.
no subject
Student Specialties: (Is this their field of focus, or are they branching out from their usual work?)
Artwork: A metal model of the solar system... not to scale because lol scaling to the sun
Category: Sculpture
Meaning/Interpretation: PLUTO IS A PLANET
Magical Effects: When looked at from an angle, the sun appears to be to scale. Also the planets orbit without needing to be on clockwork and there are some gratuitous sparkles around Pluto.
Quality: Good, she's a solid journeyman level at metalworking
How About That Cranky Judge: yes
Listen All of Y'all It's a Sabotage: Pretty sure I"m posting too late for that :p
Anti-Sabotage Tactics: nothing particular
