Beastfolk: A Plot Role Info

Oh my god did we really want to give Jackie this plot skill (not that he's likely to ever use it but - oh my god)

Also wow, a version of him that developed morals. Would it be okay to say that the reason for this developing of morals was a personal one? Say, one of the people that he had to memory wipe for for the TV show was a family member or good friend who didn't want to go down there?

Perfectly okay by me!

Should that be an NPC or could I check around to see if a player would be interested in it having been their character? (I'd only ask players who already know behind-the-scenes stuff.)

...Also, people who get memory wiped for the show, how are they chosen? Could it happen to just anyone or...

Sometimes it's criminals who aren't given the actor choice, or whole families that refuse to be separated when one loses their job (or continually underperformed) most of the middle age folks are people in cryogenic sleep that would be recycled. They aren't even woken up before being wiped and transformed. Mostly it's people who won't be missed for one reason or another

Would the following work:

Jackie was dating someone and a child happened, the mother refused to let go of the child, and both mother and child ended up getting mem-wiped and sent to Beastfolk island?

Jackie would probably have been the one to suggest that solution with regard to the child and then been eaten alive by guilt because his lover ended up down there, too.

ooh, an actually accidental illegal child! In cases like those, the management would just suggest an abortion, and if Jackie originally was "okay" but his lover was "no way" it could definitely lead to a mem-wiping situation for his lover. I can see it lead to Beastfolk transformation for both if he was trying to get around it and respect her wishes for keeping the child alive at the same time by suggesting the child be sent down, and then everything snowballing.

(and you're totally welcome to ask other players if they'd like to be a part of it! It doesn't have to be someone who knows already either, necessarily, just as long as they're willing to keep the extra info to their chests like the plot-role folks)

So Thorne was probably the lover and Phillip possibly the baby and we're working out the series of events that lead to this clusterfuck. It's a sad tale of how the chief memory tech and the chief mythic designer thought they could bargain to get their oops baby raised by mythics... and things went horribly awry. We'll update you in a bit?

In her space life, Thorn(e) was Char, the chief mythic designer up until five years ago. She and Jackie had roughly parallel careers?

So far we're thinking:

-- oops baby happened seventeen years ago
-- busy couple maybe didn't realize until it was too late to get an abortion or Char/Thorn was opposed to it
-- they thought they bargained to have it go to the mythics after it was weaned using their positions within the Producers to get away with it
-- went back to their normal lives of memory tech and mythic designer
-- five years ago after a stupid fight over a ruined article of clothing, Char stays late at work and idly combs through the new actor database to see who she might have to design for in the future
-- guess who just got entered into the active actors because he got his first job
-- instead of going to the mythics they kept him to be trained as an actor
-- THIS WAS NOT WHAT THEY AGREED TO
-- Char/Thorn storms into the office for the head producer and is never heard from again
-- and Jackie finds out what happened while he's erasing her memories OOOPS
-- and then takes five years to get his shit together

Hopefully that can work?

That would work really well! The Producers are very disappointed in them both.

Okay but at some point around week two I want Branch to try and fail to kill Jayden, because he's an actor, not a professional killer.

Do you have any specific plans for the killing? Seems like Circe has been ordered to try and kill Jackie, too, so I'm wondering if we could do the kind of plot trope where two people accidentally sabotage each other's murder plans by trying at the same time, or something like that.

I do not, but that sounds like a delightful next step in this clusterfuck.

Hm. Well, I'm assuming he's not a work-in-the-woods type so an accident is probably out of the question, and probably no one's going to let her get him alone lol, so maybe poisoning? She's given him helpful medicine before, and she's heading out near the Wasteland this week.

Hm. In a week 1 week Thace just warned Humansona about Circe, and will all the acusations going on I'm not sure if she could give him something. Maybe if she managed to swap out the pot of skin cream that he uses? he lives at Thorn/Spear/idk who else's house, so maybe one of them could catch her?

Thorne is probably clued in about her from the infiltrators on the network so she could probably manoeuvre Thorn into catching her in a worst case scenario. I figured maybe she’d pick up some radioactive nonsense near the edge of the forest and try and put it in his stuff? Could be even if she’s successful he notices it smells weird and chucks it, thinking it’s gone bad or something.

Both would work!

/goes to healer and complains that his stuff went bad, shows them the stuff, person: "...that's not going bad that's poison" maybe?

Oh shit yeah that’s really funny. I just love the idea of him like constantly narrowly avoiding death because he’s too fussy.
