Slivers & Shards Cabalist Details

The secret, put simply, is this: Cabalists all dreampush while they sleep. But they also all kythe while they sleep. Cabalists, as a result, trust each other to the death. Cabalists can completely separate their psychic form from their physical form - they view flesh as temporary and unreal. And Cabalists use their dreampushed power for one big, collective advantage: their powers have no maximum range limit. They use this to spy on everyone else’s psychic secrets. A lot.

Cabalists maintain one other secret - for a psyche disconnected from a body, physical death is not the same as psychic death. Dreampushed power can keep a severed psyche alive indefinitely. Not all dead Cabalists are preserved - they only have the power to keep perhaps the two dozen most knowledgeable and valuable spirits around. Cabalists know their shot at bodiless immortality is temporary, not eternal, and lasts only so long as they’re useful to the community; a Cabalist can choose not to separate from their body at the moment of death.

The common perception of Cabalists is that they possess no manners and no boundaries or sense of privacy, shamelessly asking any question, transgressing any rule of manners. This perception is, of course, one hundred percent correct.
