Slivers & Shards Pre-Moebius Veteran Info
This jaunt is a revisit to the world of the failed jaunt that directly precipitated Moebius. If you’d like to talk to the mods about what your character might remember, drop us a line in the comments below.

This did not seem likely to work as advertised.

When they withdrew, more or less during the mission that assassinated Malion, they were assumed to be martyred in the battle that surrounded that. The plan had been that they would have helped a team of rebels steal and place a Hellstone and escape. Without their help, there was a bloodbath, and a protracted battle in the upper Spire of some city - not Fallenheart or Fallen Wrath - and the Hellstone was not recovered by any side, its whereabouts unknown.
There was an extremely acrimonious dispute post-Jaunt about whether a Traveler had made the Hellstone go missing and what they had done with it that was, to the best of her knowledge, never resolved.

The soil quality was much better back then.
Also, the pivotal conflict was over the possession of psychic crystal WMDs called 'hellstones' and the Travelers were uncomfortably with either the god-king or the Rebels getting hold of them. What's worse, the Overmind, or the loss of all technology and all defense against Nation Eaters? Travelers as a group declined to make a choice, although individuals may still have gotten involved.

Would he remember what they might have done to, uh, earn the statues?

But really, if he fought for the Rebels at all, even at the beginning of the Jaunt (even if what he really did was stab a Protectorate goon trying to read his mind, with no Rebellion in mind at all), and especially if he had any degree of psychic protection, he could have earned the Rebels' admiration.

SOMEHOW MISSED THIS BEFORE NOW
-absolutely tyrannical & run by megalomaniacs.
-totalitarian, willing to use hellstones aggressively against rebels or foreign vales
-purged and reprogrammed rebellious minds, including into cavosophia
-seemed necessary to sustaining life, but were willing to use that as a blanket justification for anything they did short of an extinction event
REBELS
-their sacks of the cities were BRUTAL and destroyed infrastructure as a deliberate tactic to make the cities less worth reconquering
-they discussed using the Hellstones against Protectorate cities that hadn't fallen
-they did not have a coherent vision of how their society would survive without the Overmind / dreampush-powered utilities for irrigation, transportation, industrial fabrication, mining, energy, etc.
-used child soldiers, especially katadors
-discussed attempting to use nation eaters against Protectorate strongholds, but never figured out how
