A few questions:

Are the other Cabalists aware of Thrasyllus?

How hidden should I keep him in threads in terms of descriptive narration? I don't want to hide things from players if they should know it, but I understand the secret is the point.

Also his name is Qabil because I'm lazy and y'all are enablers.

Okay so! Re: Delaunay and his support of Qabil's bullshit, I feel like he's probably v much in favor of reestablishing the Protectorate under Ghalib since he's the rightful heir and that does matter, maybe more into it being Ghalib or Ghalib's eventual niece or nephew to do that uniting than any other leader. (I figure he knows about Ghalib because Cabalists are all up in each other's business.) But like, he'd also be in favor of Qabil molding Ghalib into being the Right kind of god-king.

(I don't think Delaunay/Anaf has a ride along of his own.)

Probably, though Quabil is not so much for the right-think stuff and Anaf will know why - it's impossible to control what everyone thinks without damaging productivity and creative solutions. Ghalib is the most likely candidate right now but we'll see how the Jaunt shakes out.

He can agree with that and if Ghalib looks likely to turn into a tyrant or is already there, they might have to sacrifice him and play the long game with Ghalib's heir—with someone making sure the heir is a better molded. But that would delay things more than is perhaps ideal...

... and then of course the Jaunt plot kicks in and even Anaf can admit that there's no time to be playing the long game with a more moldable next gen Magnator Scion.

2: The best course might be treating Thrasyllus like someone you are in psychic contact with during a thread? But you do not have to hide it at all on the meta/ooc side. If you wanted, you could write it as though he was simply someone you were in psychic contact with; but that is a matter of preference, you are equally welcome to make it plain in tags you have a voice in your head!

Week 1 Report

Qabil did a lot of poking around, a lot of concerned noises at and about Ghabil. They made some noises about trying to see if they can get the Council to back them in any way, and Qabil is willing to do some active mental digging if need be (I don't know how obvious that stuff would be) to see if there's anything they can use on them.

He's also been keeping a wary eye on the newcomers, and starting this week will probably start moving in to see what kind of people they really are. He's also considering manufacturing some kind of crisis in order to see who people rally around. Mod input would be appreciated, because I'm not 100% sure what the options are. He wouldn't want to go after food or water, but releasing some kind of animal in the city doesn't seem big enough. An important theft, perhaps, so if someone has an idea I'd like a hand. Or, you know, murder. But probably not a PC.

Thrasyllus has been sniping at him, pushing hard to back Ghabil unconditionally because he sees that as the clearest path to restoring the Protectorate. Qabil is a little more hesitant to fully commit because he fears the dictatorial streak in the younger man - not that a strong leader is a bad thing, but one who rules too harshly is.

He could discover from NPC councilors the point of contention right now is whether to send a diplomatic team to Fallen Heaven or to Lodestar, in preparation for the High Table expedition.

We will get back to you about a manufactured crisis as we get well enough to work on the next Mingle!

Possibly a fire in the warehouse district? It could be done carefully on a warehouse containing trade supplies, not food or water. A building collapse or something in the Market are also possible.

A warehouse district fire seems easy enough to do (it's hot, things ignite). It'd make sense from a diplomatic standpoint as well since it's involving trade, so as long as it's big enough to cause a disturbance (not like 'three sheets and a piece of toast'), he'd be willing to do that.
