As Thorne shared with the network, Travelers who vanish find themselves alone in a small room. But it doesn’t look quite as described last time. Paper lanterns hang in the corners, and a lemniscate of live, spicily scented blue roses traces a figure eight on the floor. A little marble plinth sits beside the looping roses, with a champagne flute balanced on it, pink, fizzy liquid quietly effervescing within. In place of the throne that was there before, each half of the loop holds a brown leather sphere - a yoga meditation-ball chair. They’re a little tricky to balance on.


The walls, floors, and ceiling are tiled, a prismatic fade from one color to another, each tile unique, just slightly different in hue than those around it, each colored line giving a sense that it belongs to a bigger pattern, but never revealing enough to allow anyone certainty about what that pattern might be. It is only a glimpse of a larger world… in this small, quiet space.

"Ah... Orion is a bit more open about that. I wouldn't have likely talked so openly about those things." Even if he agreed pretty strongly with Orion's opinions.

Of course their hosts would know something like Arcana accociations. Jean lifts the hand that's holding nothing and lets his Persona card shine above it for a while. He lets it fade out without breaking it.

"You're not worried I'll outgrow you sooner or later?"

Another shrug. "Maybe? But you might not have time!"

Once again something that doesn't sound very promising. What happens after the world series? Or...

"What... happens if the one you're marked to loses? Or if they win?"

"Well, you won't have our favor anymore," she says, taking a sip from her glass of champagne. "In the sense of us interfering for you, anyway. We'll be out of play and any points you score for us won't count. And once one of us wins..." She shrugs. "Well, then we'll have won. It would put me in a mood to be generous."

Why is it that all the answers he gets always give him more questions. Well, it's probably something he should expect with the situation being what it is.

"What does your favor include?"

[cupidand]

"Oh, a couple things," she says airily. "Possibly our interference. Definitely some fun skills for you to play with. Travelers love learning skills, don't they? It's what it looks like from our viewpoint."

"Well they help us survive, so naturally... well most of them do, at least." He's still not sure how to use doki-itis to his advantage.

A thought then hits him.

"... as long as you don't give out skills that make me some kind of a messenger of love, that sounds like a good deal." Love is important, but he doesn't want to be... whatever that cupid thing was that his tattoo resembles.

Now she kinda wants to. But no, she'll be good. "Noted!"

Jean would honestly have only himself to blame for even giving her that idea.

"Well, I guess we'll be working together from now on, then. I'll try not to mess up too badly."

[cupidand]

She grins at him. "I think you'll be fine! Just be yourself! And together maybe we can fill the universe with love."

She just had to say that, huh?

"If it includes me finally succeeding in love, that's great."

[cupidand]

Oh, she seems delighted by that idea.

"I'll keep a look out for you! Or else, have you thought of dating Eren and Mikasa? Or sharing her with Eren? One of new chosen is now in a three person relationship and it seems to be working really well for them!"

It's a good thing Jean wasn't drinking the champagne, otherwise it would have been wasted at that moment. Instead his face is both shocked and very red.

"LIKE HELL I'D DATE EREN!" That's the main issue with the suggestion, clearly. "There's nothing that come between Mikasa and him so 'adding a third' is out of the question and like hell I'd 'share' her with Eren. Mikasa's not something you can just go around sharing anyway."

"Hey, hey, simmer down," she says. "It was only a suggestion. Besides, that kind of thing doesn't always work right. You need to be able to communicate, you know? Otherwise it ends up in a mess where people fall out of ambit one after another."

[rustyhonesty]

"Yeah. Relationships rely a lot on communication. I've noticed." At least he seems to be calming down from his small anger... even if he's still bright red.

"Eren and I do get along fine these days, but... he's more like an idiot brother? At most."

Mikasa had also become more family-like even if there were still parts of him that were hopelessly in love with her every time she smiled or did something for him.

"Ah, yeah. I'm familiar with those. Well, idiot siblings, anyway. You ever meet Cairbre? Or Hakan Caesar? You guys might know that one better as Emperor Emperor."

[rustyhonesty]

"Yeah, I've met Emperor Emperor when I was infiltrating... wait. Are you saying they're your siblings?"

[cupidand]

"Kinda. Sorta. Yes-and-no. We're a lot of things to each other, some of 'em at the same time. Cairbre's more my sib than Hakan, but they're both sibling-ish. Of course," she says in unison with herself, suddenly doubling in front of him, "my truest sib is myself."

Sudden dublication makes Jean jump quute a bit and he's once again glad he hadn't been drinking because holy crap.

"... right. Lovers. Of course."

[cupidand]

"It's great when you don't have a date to the dance."

[rustyhonesty]

"Well, if you ever run into a situation that you don't have anyone to dance with, I wouldn't mind dancing with you again. ... either of you. Uh. Are you two different?"

[cupidand]

"Mm. It's complicated." She combines into one girl again, then grins cheekily at him. "Hey, do you think you guys are going to have a dance again? Because, if you do and you don't have anyone to go with..."

She flutters her eye-lashes at him.

"Uhh... I'd guess we are? It was such a success last year, so I don't see why we wouldn't have one again." Though did she... just ask him on a date?

"I... think a friend of mine wanted to go with me if I there's another... "

[cupidand]

"Oh, okay," she says. "But you'll save a dance for me, right?"

[rustyhonesty]

"Yeah. I'll keep a look out for you."
