Sorority Leader - Blue Diamond

Leader of the sorority of girls with silver hair and lovely voices. The sorority name isn’t Greek; in fact, most can’t recognize the alphabet. Unusually, they are adept at disguising themselves as humans. They like the pool, and they use it to travel between here and the Elsewhere. She will carry messages, even people, for a price. She may be one of the chaotic neutral merfolk, a siren, both, Fae…?

Week 1: The pool is officially closed until next week, but when has that ever stopped anybody? (When it opens in week 2, the pool will have a mingle prompt.) If someone accepts her frequent offer to bring them through the portal to the Elsewhere, the exit varies, but there will always be a body of water, and it will always be relatively safe. Other portals to Elsewhere, including Anna Monday itself, are not guaranteed to open onto a safe place, especially for humans.

As soon as information is given to you, reveal it in your plotting or threading at will unless otherwise told not to.

Skill: Aquatic Portal - Use any body of water deep enough for swimming as a Portal. No cooldowns. The illusion of the bottomless deep will appear and disguise the Portal during use, though that itself may raise questions. Strong swimmers recommended.

So, some questions on this - for week 1, should she be refusing to take anyone through the pool? Or just sneaking them in? Also, how does that skill work outside of the jaunt? It is basically a portal between any two bodies of water?

Oh, also - how should I manage the 'price' part of this? Is there any particular guidelines I should follow for determining what they are?

Up to you. Sneaking them in if she feels like it, refusing if not in the mood. I can give you a preview of the water near next mingle's location, or you can make up an environment of your own, like a tropical island or something.

Any two bodies of water deep enough to swim in. Best results when she and the passenger are strong swimmers.

Price is up to you. Each Fae has individual needs and desires, even if she's purely a siren and not a Fae--though I think lore would change the dairy popular with Fae to something else.

Got it! Not sure if she'll take anyone yet (she may indeed refuse), but we'll see how things go.

The 'deep enough to swim in' part could be interesting considering Blue Diamond's usual size :P (though she can shapeshift smaller)

I'm planning for her to be Fae. In fact - is it okay if I imagine the Sorority as a whole as a minor Court of Fae, with Blue Diamond as the Queen of it?

Also, does the price have to be the same thing each time, or can Blue Diamond make varying deals depending on the person / her mood / whatever?

A very very small Court, yes. We/they/the Arcana don't want to catch the attention of Fae Nobility, who are terrifying and a lot like Eldritch Old Gods tbh. I feel I shouldn't throw that at the Jaunt as a whole because players definitely did not opt into that.

Right, it's the big courts they want to avoid, yes? But from what I read, it seems like apart from the main ones there's still ltos of little Courts all around that aren't as powerful / terrifying. Would a Court that consists of just the Soriority be small enough?

Next week: Provided the plants are dealt with on time, next week's obstacle is Anna Monday's territory. It has a lake. Handwave that the Sorority leader knows where the rescue party is, either by having helped them before, or just curiosity. She can get people instantly there, but has deemed the surface of the lake unsafe. She may stock up on scuba gear to keep her passengers in the depths and therefore safe. They surface at their own risk.

Nothing so far - as yet no one's asked her for a lift. Although I do have plans for her to whisk Rose Quartz away to Elsewhere / the Human Zoo as a Pledge. (We're planning for that to happen week 2, but so far nothing's in motion yet)

While i'm editing the mingle: She knows where the rescuers are simply because she's lake-adjacent in her powers. Simpler!

Also, quick update on Blue Diamond's ferrying: not sure when it'll be played out, but oocly we've agreed that the price for Nila ferrying people is Taurina's tears for one year per person transported.

AND ACTUALLY another question while I think of it - can Nila also get people not on the Designated Rescue Party to where the stuff is happening? I'm not sure how her ability works with the RNG, and since it seems like people are at a bit of a loss as to how to get involved; I wonder if this could be a way to help others get in on things

Not really, I'm afraid! There hasn't been much going on this week.

Nila's pool will still be the most direct route to anyone looking for Alayne next week. Alayne will be found and the rescue will conclude.

Originally I was going to have a Fairy Circle appear in a tree to take everyone back, but what do you think of having a nearby well suddenly fill with water and Nila coming up to investigate this new addition to the water network and take everyone back?

Nila probably would still ask for some kind of Price perhaps...perhaps it could be something already covered by thge RA(s), to make it easier?

Nila and Foxglove have largely wrapped up their Deal (with her giving her a seedling from her Elsewhere Garden that's been bathed in her tears.

The Sorority are holding a Fundraising party for the Festival next mingle, and have been handing out leaflets for it. Close inspection of leaflets may give the impression that the Nila doesn't have the best grasp on things like 'fundraising' and 'charity', and is laboring under the assumption that the Community Pool these funds are for will still very much Belong To Her.

So just to make sure I'm making the right assumptions here - blue diamonds ability to take people safely to elsewhere is probably going to be an important thing in the upcoming mingle, right?

It’ll be an important thing throughout the jaunt , though next mingle if she wants to, she could shuttle the entire rescue party? Coordinate with the RA and let me know if that is the case.

She could shuffle the entire rescue party, but she'd consider that worthy of a significant Deal, so there'd need to be a fair price paid for it.

Do you have anything to report for week one? Also while I’m here, here’s the minimum you should include in your top level for week two: It's always wise to have a pool prompt, but this week especially, just so players know where to find you and what you're about, and take advantage of this mingle's pool prompt.

As for stuff to report; this week she's been insistent on the pool being closed because closing a pool is totally how you honour dead friends/relatives, right. She also made a deal with Foxglove; he's going to grow a memorial garden for her in exchange for an awesome Elsewhere seed.
