Sooo.... are there any abandoned buildings/shacks/sheds/convenient location he can set up a Goosebumps shop in? :D

I... only read some Goosebumps, so I'm not familiar with what a Goosebumps shop needs. Being friends with a coach, janitor, groundskeeper, etc. might get them an unused shack, perfect for hiding their shop and all their loot inside. Mostly cornerwitches use alleys, spaces behind bleachers, etc. for Deals because they ask the bricks questions as part of their ritual.

It's basically any old, abandoned looking shop where the shopkeeper is... not quite right and anything you get there is probably cursed and/or has one hell of a string attached. Other traits tend to run along the lines of it looking totally normal when you go there the first time, only when you go looking again, it's long abandoned, or just flat out gone.

...There a handy reference sheet somewhere covering the whole bricks and ritual thing?

Nope, just this comic about a cornerwitch, which doesn't cover asking bricks questions and is more about the kind of objects one might Deal for: http://charminglyantiquated.tumblr.com/post/113043123123/a-short-comic-about-witches-and-wishes-and-wanting If you want to keep it simple, what it says on the tin: simply talking to bricks or concrete and looking at graffiti.

I love the idea of its existence being in question, but that may make accessibility to a Plot Role more difficult, so try to keep "office hours" vague, e.g. it "sometimes" vanishes. It also sounds more like Elsewhere influence than something within the cornerwitch's power, so he may simply have taken advantage of a Thin Spot.

I assume the graffiti answers whatever he asked the bricks?

Most of those sorts of shops seem to run on the "When you go looking for them/have a need, you find them" sort of plot convenience. So something of a "...but there's nothing there." "Have you gone looking" "...well no, but--" "that's why it wasn't there." set up which seems to fit in perfectly.

And considering Bakura, finding a neat spot and camping out fits very well.

Not really. No one really showed any interest (outside oen thread), so he just kinda hung out.

(Maybe when I’m finally not sick, I’ll actually get to tagging again... Eagle One is trying to buy a spell to prank some bullies.) The main draw of his shop is that his Deals aren’t wily and tricksy like the Fae, nor is it bound by as many rules as the library. And his savviness when it comes to the weird shit. Even if that’s come up already in week one, I’d put it in the top level for week two just so people don’t forget they have IC options.

The mingle only came to life yesterday so... not really. There's a thread where he's going to give Anna back a bit of her glass, and Ryo is asking him how to find Hajime, but everything's in its infancy, so...

Re: Cornerwitch - Bakura

[personal profile] whocanname 2018-10-02 09:42 pm (UTC)(link)
(That confirms my worry that everyone would wait until Oct to do anything. Including me, but more because I was low on ideas.)

Keep me updated on the giving Anna back some glass, and how much, that's important and may influence the content of next mingle.

I'm waiting on a mod answer for more specific instructions for you for next week. I suspect they've already answered, but as Plurk's down, I can't get to it yet.

That was kinda a given, yeah. (AC really screws up a lot of things, annoyingly enough...)

Re: Anna: He has two pieces he's going to give back, one at a time (he wants to see what happens. And then to see if it happens the same again) I think the plan is one good memory, one bad one for a variation on reactions, but nothing's threaded yet, so that's up in the air. (I figured he's made friends with the crows and regularly gives them bribes of shinies and snacks so he was able to come up with an agreeable trade for the two. Depending how things go, he may see about bribing them further to get more of them back because this is kinda fascinating for him.)

Re: Cornerwitch - Bakura

[personal profile] whocanname 2018-10-02 10:03 pm (UTC)(link)
As the crows have put Anna Monday on their to-kill list, they are reluctant to willingly give up shards. Unlike Fae, their polar opposites, the crows do not take bribes or trades. They only do things because they love someone, i.e. Dream-Eater. If he breaks their trust, they will murder him. That's... how they roll... ANYWAY, he's less likely to get more shards unless he steals them without getting caught.

Re: Cornerwitch - Bakura

[personal profile] triggerhappytraitor 2018-10-02 10:07 pm (UTC)(link)
He's not a trust-breaking type (overlay or not, YGO is a Friendship series, so that is kinda a core thing for him) so looks like no more shards for him. If he asks either them or... whatever it is he gets his info why the crows have it out for Anna, will he gets a response? (and will they be mad at him for giving them back?)

Re: Cornerwitch - Bakura

[personal profile] whocanname 2018-10-02 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)
They'll just refuse to give him more shards and give him the cold shoulder if he presses them about it.

The crows don't talk, so he has better luck doing it on his own. After he does the Cornerwitch magical question ritual, the graffiti reveals that the crows think Anna Monday is too dangerous to leave be. Clearly they know something everyone else doesn't. (Its violence and instability will be more properly showcased as the next rescue party obstacle.)

[personal profile] triggerhappytraitor 2018-10-02 10:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Crows will get an apology pizza afterwards then.

Follow up question of "Why" / what do the crows just giving the info on the violence/being a hot mess thing or anything else in addition?

Re: Cornerwitch - Bakura

[personal profile] whocanname 2018-10-02 10:41 pm (UTC)(link)
They would super not want Anna Monday to start bringing parts of its territory into the mundane world, something they foresee happening if Anna Monday continues to be allowed to hang around. A storm of flying shards of glass would really mess up their airspace.

New question!

Is there anyway that Dream-Eater could arrange for Ryo (Hajime's sidekick) to have safe passage to go see him? (I seriously have no idea what he can even do here TBH... )

Does Ryo have a way to track down Hajime, like a Bond?

week 2/week 3

[personal profile] whocanname 2018-10-04 06:21 am (UTC)(link)
Next week: When Fennel tells the Involved what is attacking the rescuers, Anna Monday being a magical ghost rather than a Fae seems like a good theory to you too. Tell any Involved what you learned about Anna Monday being on the crows' to-kill list, the shards, etc. Advertise sales of nonharmful anti-ghost Protections, which most other people probably won't have because they specialize in Fae stuff, whoops.

Easteros will send a special agent (Safe Name: Agent Web) to EU to briefly check in with their secret bodyguard, Argentum, and confirm Alayne's well-being at the college. He strolls around campus, poking his Uninvolved nose everywhere. His presence is a nightmare for Involved staff and students alike, exactly the kind of attention Fae and EU don't want.

Offer your shop to students and staff as temporary storage for their obviously Weird items until Agent Web leaves, hopefully soon.

I'm still a bit unsure what he can actually offer people..? Like... Can I say that since he's off brand Bakura and of course he has he and his occult obsession means that he knows how to make wards and charms and all that such?

Also is there something that is student-only accessible, like campus email or something where he can do an advert just to students, rather than something Mr. Nosey could see walking through campus? Possibly some trick he knows to make a sign only noticeable to students and not "adults"?

Re: week 2/week 3

[personal profile] whocanname 2018-10-05 06:22 am (UTC)(link)
Yes! those are what I meant. That's what Protections do. He can also consult with Fennel/The Staffperson, who is an expert on the supernatural in general.

Are Involved teachers included? Anyway, I imagine some Involved have made a secret emailing list, sure. But just so players don't HAVE to do it, I'll say that not every Involved has opted in.

It's the equivalent of putting up posters. You're free to ignore/delete the email unread. He just wants to advertise without it being out where Mr. Nosey can see.
