Villains & Vigilantes Plot Infiltrator Information Post

.... something that has just occured to me.

As many powers come from spirits, and the Manticore Knights receive their powers directly from the Manticore, is granting skills similar to his own abilities also something Reynard would be capable of? Is that a difficult process? Does it require more power than he actually has?

yes, yes, and no - but granting others power lessens his proportionately. the manticore is terrifying because he has empowered s hundred heroes and is still the second biggest deal on earth.

So if he granted powers to someone, would that halve his power, or not quite? Could he control how much of his power he gave? How powerful is Reynard considered to be and how much could he give away before it seriously hampered him?

sorry i have so many questions

depends on how much he gave them, which he would be in full control of. i expect reynard could fully empower one hero and go down to about 50-60%, or could give crappy powers to as many as half a dozen people at anout trn percent each.

And on second thought I've hit a wall this week and probably won't be doing much of anything with this mingle. I'll blame rl stuff for a decent chunk of it. Please let me know if there's anything I absolutely SHOULD be doing and I'll either work it out or figure a way to handwave. Sorry.

I'll stick with my original plan and just assume there was at least one takedown-gone-wrong incident he could have witnessed, or try to jump on someone's coattails as needed.

Knock knock, get the door it's ~emotion~. The Bronze Blade wants Blackhawk to try this hot new compassion for other beings.

"Please try this emotion," Blade said.

"No!" said Blackhawk.

"Try iiiiit!" Blade said.

"No!" said Blackhawk again, quieter this time. And so the emotion was put into place, and all the side-eyeing of the more brutal Manticore Knights that came with it.

....yeah this week was something of a wash SORRY WILL POKE AROUND MORE NEXT TIME.

Mako was directing traffic this week, and then was part of evicting an infiltrator (well, actually an Investigator, but who's counting) from Manticore HQ, either killing him or being present at his suicide, as well as participating in an incident involving Tim (which might have been death, or just... mind fuckery).

For next week, he is going to be around, and likely getting into some sort of altercation with Altair around the Royal Family's bedchamber, and slowly losing his marbles.

I have a couple questions as I work with this. First, would a Persona user mind-scan any different to him than a normal Investigator? I know that we've been going with Persona as a presence in the user's mind, but I was just wondering if someone (a Wild Card, specifically) would scan any different.

Second, about halfway through next week, Mako is going to find out that he is possessed. He is going to use every option and every research method available to him to find a way (Artifact or an NPC) to separate the 'possession' and himself. His plan is to pull this entity out of him, and keep them locked up until they tell him what is going on. If need be, I can come up with a description of an Artifact that would accomplish this. Correlary questions: Second the first: Is this possible? Second the second: Would she be alive after being pulled out? I might have questions based on the answers to those. Thanks!

I unfortunately didn't get around to tagging with Stinger in this week's mingle, but I can tell you what she was doing offscreen. She was assisting in the arrests of some of the more dangerous fleeing Empowered and taken to doing more nighttime security work to free up the Knights that would otherwise be on patrol so they could instead help out with the check-points at daytime.

For the next week, if her own superiors won't speak directly to the Royals about it, she's going to try to approach them to request an increase in Manticore training & resources because of how quickly they became swamped in the past week to the point of needing help from the White Company.

Mostly personal stuff, lying low because almost killing a guy kind of freaked her out...

I'm going to try to throw her into some more trouble this week, possibly in the direction of police or Solomon Ring stuff if I can find a reason for it, but honestly I'm kind of struggling with how she fits into the plot at all, so... idk.

If you'd like, we can try to help with that - we're releasing a little more information this week, & we can also talk about our original notions a little?

For Week 4: we'd like to see a plan for some radical action from Jay, if possible. Whatever he can brainstorm up to wreck the Ring next mingle, hopefully the groundwork could be laid here?

And if you're drawing a blank on how to plot such a thing, we're more than willing to assist - we just don't want to micromanage if you've already got something going.

basically, as the authoritarian side of the Manticore Knights comes more to the fore, we were thinking Wreckingball would be a good catalyst or crystallization point for some direct resistance, when she sees them behaving thuggishly. Whether alone or working with others, if it would be possible to get Wreckingball intervening in an arrest or raid to stand up for the victim, that would be the kind of thing we were imagining.

Reynard will be able to spot almost right away - the King and Queen? aren't human. of course, reporting that without tipping off his identity is tricky, especially because, of course, anyone who could act on that ANSWERS to the King & Queen.

The King & Queen's reactions make them look something like investigators do to Blackhawk.

First: Hm. It wouldn't look like possession, but there would probably be some unusual electrical activity in any Persona-user's brain, and more in a Wild Card's.

Second the first: maybe! That is, ending possession is not unprecedented. The easiest way would be an artifact known to have a personality itself, and dumping a lot of extra power into it - overwhelming the initial possession.

Second: if successful, this would result in Mako remaining alive - and unpossessed, or at least, differently possessed (because artifact possession could happen) - and Naoto waking up in Liminal Space, as herself.

That works, and you are more than welcome to request an audience with the royals under the appropriate header!

Reynard was more than a little disturbed by all the paperwork-checking. He wasn't entirely cooperative when he got roped into helping, and he also got very worried about his own paperwork and ended up running out to Captain Blackhawk's more remote tower home and revealing himself as a spirit and also please let him stay here until he doesn't have to worry about the fact that his birth certificate is a fake anymore.
