TWILIGHT HALL MANAGER
There’s a story in your family, handed down from your grandparents (who learned it from their parents), about the time of the plague; people believed daylight was curative for those afflicted, and sequestered the healthy population in the dark to maintain the quarantine. What exactly that means for Lightsiders and Darksiders now has been lost to the ages, but yours is an old Duskling family, one determined to improve its lot in January by any means necessary.
What does this have to do with you? Probably nothing, as far as you’re concerned. Your family’s bought out a Darkside district to expand the Dusk Quarter, and you’ve got a shiny new building to manage. What’s there to be upset about in that?
PLOT ROLE TIES: Replaced the HOMELESS DARKSIDER as the boarding house’s manager after it was acquired by your parent.
SKILL: Selective Obliviousness. You can choose to ignore anything that might negatively affect your peace of mind, even if it’s staring you in the face, screaming.

Week One Check-in
He's making plenty of enemies and ignoring all of them.
Week Two Check-In
I didn't get to do much this mingle but next mingle...! I will tag ALL THE THINGS and stick Nio's nose in everyone's business.DUSKLING COURIER
Born to a family on either side of the circadian divide, you found yourself unable to share meals with them due to severe allergic reactions before the end of childhood and sent to Duskling caregivers. Your ‘day’ job started as a chance to see your birth family every now and then, but it’s grown into so much more. Sure, the city council needs letters delivered between sides to keep everyone on the same page, and other businesses have their correspondence, but there’s so much more that needs passing around, much of it contraband - anything from edible delicacies sold in cross-circadian markets to assistive technology to get around the divide (functioning at dawn/dusk visibility on the ‘wrong’ side). And if it comes with an opportunity to troll the hell out of people who can’t currently see, well, that’s just a bonus.
Smuggling isn’t without its risks, of course, but so far you’ve found the rewards to outweigh them. Lately, though, there are some troubling rumors floating around about the livelihood of businesses on *both* sides of the circadian divide, and someone’s going to have to get to the bottom of it sooner or later...
PLOT ROLE TIES: You’ve been helping deliver letters and set up liaisons for the DUSKCROSSED LOVERS. The TITHE COLLECTOR thinks you would make a dandy tithe.
SKILL: Seamless Compartments. You possess the expertise needed to create hidden storage compartments in your clothing and belongings that cannot be found unless you specifically reveal their secrets.

DUSKCROSSED LOVERS
Neither of you saw any reason why the Dusklings should get to have all the fun, and were drawn to the Dusk Opera by your mutual love of music - and perhaps, in Eren’s case, the chance to pick up on some interesting information. While auditioning, be it for singing or some other role in the company, didn’t get either of you anywhere in your professional lives, it did give you that rarest of opportunities - meeting someone from the other circadian cycle with a common interest.
Attending shows together is rarely on the table, but letters? Letters you can do, and with a little help from a dedicated courier, you have been. Somehow, you’ll find a way to be together all the time - you’re sure of it. Having an in or two with January’s underground may be of substantial help there.
PLOT ROLE TIES: The DUSKLING COURIER has been helping you conduct your secret romance.
SKILL: Epistolary Expertise. You both possess the ability to write letters that move people emotionally, skillfully conveying your passion and emotion through the printed word.

Week 1 Check-In
Otherwise, he's been doing the subtle info-gathering and info-smuggling he does for Mani. Basically acting oblivious in crowded places while actually being very observant and eavesdropping, things like that. Is there anything important to the Jaunt he'd be able to pick up on? Or would that be way overstepping his role? (If it is overstepping I'll just handwave that everything he learns is important for bankers but not so much for Travelers.)
As far as future plans, there is one big personal plot thing between the Duskcrossed pair - figuring out Ellen and Mani's backstory and how it'd affect Mitsuki in a private plurk kind of snowballed into actual plot, sorry. Anyway, several years back Ellen actually punched someone to death after that someone tried pulling a knife on Mani. Mani's parents ended up being convinced to let Ellen stay and covered it up so very few people know much about it, and only a highly select few know the truth. Mitsuki doesn't yet know about this. Either this coming mingle or the one after, someone is going to threaten Mitsuki and Ellen's going to nearly punch them to death - the only thing that saves them is he doesn't want Mitsuki to watch him kill someone. Ellen and Mitsuki will end up talking about it, with him telling her about the guy he ended up killing before. There will be several awkward day/night cycles following that where they're each going to be scared the other wants to break up. But when they finally get brave enough to talk to each other again they'll realize they both still very much want to stay together and it'll be back to your regularly scheduled Duskcrossed fluff.
As for the dude that had his face rearranged, Mani's parents might or might not cover it up again and might or might not learn about Ellen's taboo romance. Megan's not sure yet. If they don't cover it I'm assuming that the threat of actually being killed will be enough to keep the NPC quiet about the whole thing, but idk I'd be open to talking about the possibility of this event causing bigger shenanigans later.

Week 1 Check-in
Other than that, I'm very behind with everything but other plans for first week ( which i'm gonna still backtag ) are just general -- uh possibly talking to people and sitting at cafes, writing songs and letters and stuff that she hides in her room or sends to Ellen. And not drawing attention to herself... It's a calm and quiet start.
And probably calm and quiet before the storm considering Rain's comment above about our plans above.
CONSPIRACY THEORIST
You see conspiracies and devious plots under every rock; it’s been your habit since you were young, and the longer you’ve been in school, especially university, the more you find (it certainly doesn’t help that your sister keeps telling you you must be smoking something, without ever meeting your eyes). The Samhain tithe is, despite the city council stating the sacrifice is now a metaphor, actually killed or worse; the long-ago plague was a biological weapon turned against January, either by a forgotten assailant or the city officials themselves (or, hells, why not both?); the Dusklings are making land grabs and driving January’s economy to ruin; any number of recent scientific achievements are actually hoaxes; and so, so many more.
In all of this, though, there is one conspiracy that definitely rings true: The city council is poisoning everyone.
Well, all right, not poisoning as such, but they’re definitely adding things to everyone’s food; you know some Dusklings who were raised on one side or the other and break out in hives every time they eat what everyone else calls ‘normal’ food, though others are unaffected - and why else would the only true organic market in January be in the Dusk Quarter? Why The Man wants to keep everyone down like this, you don’t know, but the evidence is *right there* and you have to get people to see it before it’s too late.
PLOT ROLE TIES: Like the HOMELESS DARKSIDER and the LIGHTSIDE ADVENTURER, you’re a regular at the Ideograph Cafe.
SKILL: The Truth Is Out There. You can assemble a semi-coherent conspiracy theory out of any information you are given, no matter how disparate.
Re: CONSPIRACY THEORIST
Re: CONSPIRACY THEORIST
... she may be publishing an interview by real life Hell Denizen Lucifer, depending if Luci is willing to give one.
HOMELESS DARKSIDER
You’ve known this was coming for months. The Dusklings posted a notice on your door ages ago, saying they’d bought out not only your building but the entire block, and even though you’ve been fighting the eviction the entire time, they seem to have covered their asses with every legal loophole they can find. So now, not only are you out of a job, but your home’s been yanked out from under your feet, and you open the jaunt with nowhere to call your own.
You’ve had it up to here with the Dusklings and what looks like more and more blatant land grabs, the more you look at the evidence (not just what the local conspiracy nut is on about, either - there’s a definite trail to be followed). More than anything, you wish they’d just *go away* and leave the Lightsiders and Darksiders to their respective businesses.
PLOT ROLE TIES: Like the CONSPIRACY THEORIST and the LIGHTSIDE ADVENTURER, you’re a regular at the Ideograph Cafe. The TWILIGHT HALL MANAGER replaced you once your boarding house was folded into the Dusk Quarter.
SKILL: Sympathy Pints. By airing your misfortunes, you stir the hearts of others enough that you don’t have to buy your own drinks until you leave the establishment you’re in.
no subject
Does sympathy pints include food, or only drinks? >.> Asking as a broke and hungry and very large elf who still needs to eat...
Also, where exactly is he to be looking for this evidence? Paperwork and purchasing records in the city, or something more tangible?
Also-also, are the BOARDERS of this boarding house being kicked out, too, or only the management and darksider staff? Mostly for pre-Jaunt-CR plotting purposes.

I may also tag him into the council log with him trying to get at records there, if I have time tomorrow.
Also, I might vy to get him working with Raidou, if Zoe is up to it.
LIGHTSIDE ADVENTURER
Foreigners may not understand what it is to have wanderlust without leaving your own city, but let’s face it - they’re foreigners and have never had to live with such a stark circadian divide. More so than many other places, January is literally a different city at night, and you wanted to know more from an early age; the darkness has never scared or stopped you, and over time, you’ve learned to compensate for it, leaving you just as capable of nighttime movement as any Darksider. Even a lot of people in January itself don’t understand, but they don’t have to - this is something you’re doing for you, and everyone else can go soak their heads.
But with exploration comes information, some of it troubling. Not too long ago, your nighttime wanderings took you near a local farm - nothing unusual during the day, but at night, you heard an unusual number of carts leaving it, headed into the city, and they didn’t scatter at the gates like they might if they were just headed to various markets. Add to that whispers of land grabs, and you’ve got quite a lot on your plate to investigate - most of which may prove difficult to make noise about without actual visual confirmation.
PLOT ROLE TIES: Like the CONSPIRACY THEORIST and the HOMELESS DARKSIDER, you’re a regular at the Ideograph Cafe.
SKILL: Blind Mastery. Your ability to navigate while blinded far surpasses most, making your movements seem natural. Watching you, it’s impossible for people to realize you can’t see.

Week 3 is research week, in which Raidou takes on some of the research Riddick needs to do, in exchange for Riddick checking out the farms and the warehouse. He'll also be trying to figure out what they're doing to the food, or at least why they're doing it, but that's probably going to require at least some talking to people.
He would also really like to know who owns that factory. Is there any way he could find that out? For that matter, is there anything more he could find for Riddick?

TITHE COLLECTOR
JAVERTCOLLECTOR: SabethaYou’ve been a low-ranking member of the Lightsiders’ city council committee for some time now, hoping to prove yourself worthy of more trust and power. Collecting this year’s Samhain tithe is your first major assignment, and you’re determined to make sure the chosen tithe truly deserves the ‘honor.’
Learning the truth about the circadian divide - that it’s enforced by the city council, rather than a true evolutionary offshoot of the old plague - was a shock at first, but you firmly believe January’s dual system is for the best, and that the smugglers passing contraband around are doing severe damage to your society. Who better, then, to serve as both this year’s tithe and a symbol to the smuggler network than one of their own?
But there’s a slight… complication. In order to complete the tithe, the city council has authorized you to use a pair of assistive goggles, so that you can navigate the nighttime streets in pursuit of your quarry if need be. Being a fake Duskling, of sorts, is almost - dare you even think it - fun, and your pursuit of justice is wavering in the face of having to give this freedom up in a few weeks’ time...
PLOT ROLE TIES: While you’d love to send anyone trading in contraband straight to Hell, the one you’re particularly gunning for is the DUSKLING COURIER. Now if only you knew their real identity...
SKILL: Counter-Circadian Goggles. Keep the assistive goggles given to you to complete your mission. Unlike the contraband goggles, these allow much clearer vision at night, so that the night only looks like day as viewed through sunglasses.
Re: TITHE COLLECTOR
Re: TITHE COLLECTOR
How secretive is the council about their adaptive technology? Can authorized members use it freely, or should they be trying their hardest not to get noticed with it? For that matter, how obvious are the goggles?
How long has Sabetha had the goggles? Would she just be getting them at the beginning of the Jaunt, or should she have had a week or two to adjust already?
What's the purpose of the tithe? Does the generally accepted purpose differ from the actual purpose? Are there any particular criteria for selection, or does each Collector determine their own prey? Has it ever been a voluntary process?
