"What does that mean?" Pidge is now just confused. "I need to get back to Shiro before half of Liminal Space gets a glowing purple arm to the face. Do you... need something from me?" She hates feeling lost, and she's certainly lost right now.
"Can we start with who the quiznak you are and what's going on?" Pidge missed Liminal Space after the Grid. She doesn't actually know who ROSE really is.
"I'm still ROSE," she says, looking a little hurt, but for only a moment. "But I'm more than that. I'm one of your hosts, Ace. A Champ. A Trump. An Arcana, if I'm being picky."
Pidge blinks for a moment, then walks over, and awkwardly sits down in the chair opposite ROSE. "Oh, sorry. I didn't mean that you weren't ROSE. I just... well, I figured there was more to it than just a Miner. I'm... not very good at symbolism or people or interactions. Just... computers."
Pidge smiles a bit. "So, wait. Is this like how some people got chosen by various ones of you guys?" A pause. "Why me?" It's not as if she hasn't been chosen by a mystical being before, she's just curious as to why now.
"Exactly like that, complete with rad skin art," she says, reassuringly. "And I get you because I snap up all the smart ones - especially the smart ones who'd rather run ahead and do something rather than sitting still and thinking."
"Oh. Well, I don't really like sitting around doing nothing, it's true." Sitting around on a computer is different. She realizes she has an odd itch on the back of her shoulder blade. Hm. That's for later, though.
There's a tiny smile on Pidge's face. "What's the goal here? What do you want all of us to do?"
A bit of a grin crosses her face. "Well, if there's one thing that I know, it's how to be me." Everything that has happened to her has only made her more of herself.
"So, what's the goal, then? What're we working for?"
"Matt and I played that before he left for Kerberos. It was one of his favorites." She grins. "So it's basically just one big cosmic game? What do we win in the end?"
"When I win I'll be the next best thing to omniscient," ROSE brags. "There might be people or places I couldn't find, but I sort of doubt anyone'd want to go to those places anyway."

"ROSE?" She hadn't actually seen the head Miner on the Grid, but she's definitely recognizable. "What are you doing here?"

Now she has to win this. For Matt.

"Unless whatever's got him is a bigger deal than I am - not likely in your universe, Ace."

Matt. If she does what she can, she can get to Matt. It's more hope than she's had, even more than the video feed from Betatraz.
