Leonardo collapses onto his knees on the sand, his mind still reeling from the past few seconds. First he came out of his dungeon just long enough to take a breath and see the wearied faces of his rescuers, then the familiar pull of a portal with the unfamiliar pull of another's power controlling it, and now here he is nearly face-first in the sand. He lets out a winded huff, weary and long-suffering, before he slowly rights himself to sitting on his knees.
He slowly dusts off his doublet sleeves of sand, as his eyes glance at all that lays around him. Water, infinite stretches of water, so open and yet so isolating. A hammock and some sort of drink that he will refuse to touch - he does not believe for a second that such hospitality is there for him. "... where is Cynic?" Leonardo finally asks to what appears to be no one. He knows who this island belongs to, and it most certainly belongs to No One.
"His idiom has been adopted by another," Don Orlea says, phasing into being as he speaks, until he's there, slender but ever-more substantial, the sunlight behind him not shining through and revealing his hollowness anywhere but his forearms. "My greetings to my namesake."
"His form, mayhap, but I assumed he was an extension of you," Leonardo answers, not bothering to look at the Fool. "A pity. He was the most likable part about you. What do you want, Name Thief?"
TOTALLY VOLUNTARY TO CONTINUE but I'm game if you are
"From me, you've stolen much - my happiness, my found family, my best friend, two years of my life, for a start - but that is, I suppose, 'nothing' to you."
He turns around to face the Fool, then... and begins laughing. He cannot breathe he is laughing so hard, at one point. "Nothing!" He finally chokes out. "You were hollow, after all!" He continues his fit of laughter, doubling over as he does.
Finally, he manages to control his chuckles, and slowly he rises to his feet, dusting away mirthful tears and sand alike. "And so I may take nothing, is that it?" Another small chuckle that he quells quickly, in an attempt to speak seriously with his Patron. "Why bring me here, then? I've just returned from my dungeon, you see - a harrowing experience by any measure - and I'm sure the other Nothings you're playing with are upset I've suddenly disappeared on them."
"I am a beginning," Orlea says, after a long, contemplative silence. "And you - you are a creature of many new beginnings, are you not? Perhaps we can begin to do better."
"Ah, I see - you are wanting to be friends with me now that I am a changed man, is that it?" Leonardo actually seems rather amused at the notion. "I am not so naïve as to believe that. You want something from me; all my patrons have. That is why you brought me back. The question is whether you intend to be an Angoulême or a Borgia."
"I do not know those names. But I wish for us to be on good terms. And yes. I wish your service towards my victory - a new beginning for all who need it."
