"If you're not a who, then what are you?" He takes a breath, still trying to find the source of the voice. "And... a game? What kind of game? And why do you need me for this game?"
After a moment, he adds. "I'm sorry for so many questions. I'm used to things that seem strange lately, but this just feels over the top."
"I'm an archetype. One of many, who seek to become more than we are. We need your kind of help because... mm, because you're suited to it, and because it suits us too. But right now, you're here to sit, to drink, and to ask me questions, and I'm here to answer. As well as I care to."
He doesn't feel suited to much of anything anymore but he does take a couple steps into the room, eyeing the gold chair. "So, if you're an archetype, what kind of one are you? Do you have a name? Are there other archetypes around?"
"I have many names. I'm Joan, Hathor, Prosperina, The Queen of the Night. I am all my names, and none of them. I am She That Walks Unseen. And I am one of Seventeen who Are, Twenty-one who Were, and an uncounted number who Came Before."
"That's... a lot of names." A pause. "What would you like me to call you? Also, seventeen and twenty one of what?"
He stops for a moment, shuffling in his place. "Er, sorry. I have a lot of questions. I'm Matt, but if you brought me here, you probably know that. Or if this is the afterlife, you certainly know that."
"I have a lot of those." He pauses. "So, um. Joan. I doubt you brought me here to pile questions on you. I mean, ok, I'm not really doing much at the moment, and if you're really that bored, I guess a random person peppering you with questions is better than nothing, but...."
He takes a breath. "Uh, sorry. Anyway, so why do you need me?" They can start there.
"I'm a mirror?" He sounds very incredulous. "Honestly, at the moment, I am far from shiny. Or really far from useful." He could probably polish that mirror, but that's about it.
A moment passes. "So, if I'm the mirror in spite of everything, where am I reflecting the light to? Where are we illuminating?"
"Ah. So I'm reflecting a disembodied voice to the entire... universe? Multiverse?" He can't help it. His sarcastic streak is coming out.
"I guess it could be worse. Just... if I have any say in it, can I please request no cells or grey glop for food?" A pause. "Do I even get requests?" Another pause. "Can I have some new clothes?"

"Who are you? Where are you? What's going on?" He pauses. "Where am I, for that matter?"
