"And to receive answers," the being confirms.

[flatteries]

That's actually more convenient than he thought. Since these Arcana sounded so mysterious and all from what other people said..

"Perhaps your name would be a good place to start then. It'd be pretty awkward to try and refer to you without it, I suppose... And I'm fairly sure you already know mine."

[powersthatare]

"I do," the figure admits. "But the name is not the substance. You may call me SOL, if you like, or Sun, or Taiyo. I am all of these in one."

[flatteries]

"SOL..." He repeats the name, letting it linger in the air for a moment, almost as if he's testing it out.

"Forgive me if I'm being too rude, but from the way people spoke about you, all of you seemed rather.. omnious, perhaps." To put it mildly... "But something bright and warm like 'Sun' doesn't quite seem to fit that description."

"Beings who take you all from your homes to do our bidding are naturally seen as ominous," he says, unoffended and unapologetically. "We are, and we are not. I am, and I am not. My perceptions and standards are not yours. We will unsettle one another when we misunderstand each other. But I do not seek anything sinister, and I will attempt to... dispel that impression."

[flatteries]

Oddly enough - odd compared to his expectations, anyway - he kind of finds himself understanding the other. Even among humans themselves there's misunderstandings and different standards.. So he can only imagine how big the gap must be between humans and.. well, whatever the Arcana are.

And Inigo, if nothing else, always wants to have faith in people.

"If you say so, then I would gladly give you the benefit of the doubt. You haven't done me any wrong, after all." Not even being pulled from his world, really. And even if he may have heard some bad stories about the Arcana as a whole, there could be good and bad individual ones among them, right? The one here with him seems to be on the good side so far. "And as long as I can make a positive difference in the places we visit, then I'll gladly do that."

"A positive difference is absolutely what I want," the figure confirms, nodding. "That's just precisely right."

[flatteries]

"Is that why I was marked by you? Since you knew we wanted the same thing?"

Since they did tell him they were all marked by one of the Arcana, sure, but no one really explained to him why any specific Arcana.

[powersthatare]

"Yes," the figure says, nodding. "Because of the similarity between us."

[flatteries]

For a moment Inigo stares at the figure, as if he's trying to find some sort of physical similarity between them, but.. you know, that's difficult for obvious reasons.

So instead-- "Is the similarity between us just when it comes to our goals? Or is there more?"

[powersthatare]

"Goals," the figure muses. "Approach, method, style, content... shape? It's difficult to express in your words. There are ways we think alike. The imprint we leave on the universe is similar."

[flatteries]

It is a pretty vague way to put it, but Inigo does have a vague idea of what the other means. Kind of. He thinks.

"Then are there others among you whose approach or method is more.. sinister?" He figures it's the best word for it, considering the figure used it earlier. And Inigo does figure some of the Arcana have to be that way, considering how the some people talked about them as a group. This figure doesn't seem so bad though.

[powersthatare]

"Between us all, we once represented all things," SOL answers, sounding not the least disturbed, or hesitant, or embarrassed, but still warm and optimistic. "Every variation in its panoply."

[flatteries]

At least he's pretty relieved to not have offended this figure.

"So while you represent certain good things, others represent certain bad things?"
