"... I don't know," Moon says. "Perhaps he doesn't have a contract on me, yet. Perhaps if he tries, it will be of his own volition. But this mortal, Altair, was raised from birth to be a remorseless killer-for-hire and he already attempted to attack Hakan upon their first meeting. Why wouldn't I wish to disguise myself from him?"

...That sounds very far-fetched to him.

And like she's making excuses. But perhaps it's one of those cases where Arcana just don't understand how travellers work. It wouldn't be surprising; they are very different beings, after all.

"Finding oneself transported into a new environment, not out of one's own volition, sets people on edge. Many people react to a stranger appearing, especially a stranger who seems to be in control of the place, with violence in situations like that.

That has nothing to do with being hired to do something. It's just a natural first reaction. I'm sure he's not the only one who attacked their patron at first meeting."

Moon shrugs. "He unnerves Hakan. Hakan is a fool in many ways, but he can judge a threat if he sees one. "

He gives her a lengthy look.

Should he point out that a large part of those living in Liminal would not mind seeing one, more or all Arcana dead?

No, probably not. Very certainly not. So in the end he doesn't respond directly at all.

And instead moves on to a question that might be much too direct for Moon, but that he feels he needs to at least make an attempt at nonetheless. It's important.

"Will you attempt to return to being a player in the game?"

It isn't as if she hasn't guessed that they might. But it is difficult, even with Laughs, for her to be entirely honest about anything. So being somewhat deceptive in her framing of Altair... it's just the way she is.

"If I am given the chance," she says, which is a little more direct than her wont, but at least has a note of ambiguity.

It is an answer, and an answer that sounds plain and direct enough at least at first look, so he will take it.

If she is given the chance... He will have to think on this.

"Will you be safe if you don't win?"

"Synodiporia?" She makes a huff of sound. "More likely than not. There's more danger in playing than sitting by the sidelines. I don't intend to die again."

"Good."

He'll keep an ear open in case he hears of anything endangering her, but all in all - if it is safer for her to not play, which also means that her aimed-for world won't happen? Then he's very happy with her not playing.

After a moment he comes over and nudges her with his nose.

"Stay safe."

There's a moment where all her body language indicates that she's both startled and flattered--and then a mist obscures her long enough for the woman in Glabro form to become a female werewolf in Lupus form.

She nudges him back.

"You as well."

And then, almost as if embarrassed, she leaps out of the box they're in and runs off. He won't be able to follow her.
