Resident Assistant - Asa

This human/Other is most often a seasoned student, assigned to advise, handle disputes, and protect a dorm floor. One of the few allowed safe(ish) passage up to a point in the Elsewhere, mainly to rescue Taken. They gather a team to rescue the Royal and may spend most of the Jaunt in the Elsewhere. This role may be shared by two players. All plot roles are important, but this one especially so.

If needed, there is a school fund to help Deal for Taken. RAs also carry Form TV178.ii for any Taken to declare in writing they wish to stay. Week 1: Take this chance to introduce yourself to people in the dorms and to orient new students. Some things, like locker rentals, are easy to explain. Others, like Anna Monday, require… a bit more effort.

As soon as information is given to you, reveal it in your plotting or threading at will unless otherwise told not to.

Skill: Diplomatic Immunity - If in a situation where you need to act as a diplomat, you can get away with pretty much anything if you do it subtly, under treaty, or (most applicable to after this Jaunt) within the normal scope of the world, within reason.

Anything to report for week one?

Include this information in your week 2 toplevel:
At school: Rescue recruiting. Your presence sanctions the presence of the team in the Elsewhere, according to the Treaty, barring any obstacles they might run into. Recruiting is subtle to avoid attention from Uninvolved.
The Elsewhere: The RA is here to guide volunteers and make use of their aid. Eventually you may also recruit people during the rescue to replace the ones you will lose, provided they find you and sign the appropriate forms.

Nothing of import yet - Taurina was just focused on getting students settled into the dorms safely and giving some pointers to Eagle One on how to make friends with humans.

Quick question - How will she be able to recruit people during the rescue - will she have to return to the campus or is there some way to communicate/teleport people to her?

If people go through Fairy Circles, get past the obstacles, and reach the rescue party, they would be able to talk to her. She is staying in the Elsewhere and has every appropriate form and waiver on her already.

Since the RA should know this: I'm asking that Foxglove the Groundskeeper offer 2 solutions to the official rescue party over here and take IC votes, as best they can amongst the chaos. If there is a tie, the RA has the final say.

Anything to report from week 2?

Next week: Provided the plants are dealt with on time, the second obstacle of the journey will be Anna Monday's territory. Anna Monday itself will appear and give the rescue party some choices. Consolidate discussion of these choices and take an IC vote from remaining members of the official rescue party. If there is enough of a consensus in week 3, bring the final decision to Anna Monday. If not, finish threading that in week 4.

At any time, the RA may send a message from the Elsewhere to ask for more official volunteers to replace the two she lost in week 2. She may also deputize anyone she encounters in the Elsewhere and deems fit. She carries the relevant paperwork.

I'm going to be honest - I've got nothing for week 2 because it completely slipped my mind with AC happening, and then I saw there were almost no comments happening in it since I'm guessing people were waiting for September to end before starting new threads.

I'm at a bit of a loss - trying to coordinate with Foxglove at the plants but I'm not sure that'll be resolved by the end of this week.

In the worst case scenario where we don't wrap up things of week 2 in time, what should we do? Handwave or play by ear?

Handwave and backtag? I need to know which of Foxglove's two options the rescuers would do to post the results on next mingle. Asking them OOCly and then backtagging whatever any of you want to actually thread on week 2 seems to be quickest.

We'll have to backtag - the votes are in and they decided to go for the option to learn how to garden and tend to the plants themselves instead of striking a deal with Foxglove.

Originally I had thought to just look at IC reactions to the plants to help shape the next mingle. Just in case, I had Foxglove's player announce from the get-go that they had solutions anyway. Several days into the mingle, it seemed to me that Foxglove would be the only one with any ideas. Trying to include player participation so no one would feel left out or hauled into a decision they didn’t make, I wanted Foxglove to ask opinions on which of his solutions the rescuers would like better. Whether the players took too long to answer, or didn’t answer, I don’t know. But finally it was near the end of the week, and in desperation I asked you because the RA is party leader.

To avoid the same problem next week, after you make your top level, may I suggest tagging out, so that characters will have to answer the RA's question? That’s the best tactic I can think of at the moment. Feel free to link Anna Monday's top level in tags for easy reference. Even if just one or two characters have opinions, or even if everyone says "I don’t know", that will do. If there is just something onscreen, anything, a vote isn’t even needed for me, and not all characters have to participate if they’re busy.

ETA: It's possible characters will want to do both of Anna Monday's requests, and that's a valid course of action too.

Week 3

Anything to report from week 3? (I just know that Red is bringing a message to the rescuers about Anna Monday being Alayne's sister and also ghost, in the hopes of seeing them reunited.)

Hi hi, sorry for the delay, things got crazy in the house yesterday.

Whether the message gets to the party before the end of the week or not, in the thread with Taurina and Sam, they're (mostly) in agreement to bring Anna Monday along because they know the party can't pass between Elsewhere and the university at whim and Taurina doesn't want to waste time trying to get the glass.

They're wary of Anna Monday, not entirely sure what to make of it, but will let it come with them to find Alayne.

Next week: If Taurina runs into anyone who seems capable in the Elsewhere, she may be motivated to ask them to come with them as extra muscle in case Anna Monday has a freak out. Or the Wild Hunt, who are dipping between here and the school's forest, misbehaves.

Alayne will be found this week, and the rescue will conclude.

Week 4

Final mingle: Optional: After submitting a report to the school, Taurina may be eligible for reimbursement for any Deals she made in the course of trying to get Alayne back. Otherwise, enjoy the Festival!

Dropped the ball this week and only just got a toplevel up, really. I was hoping to chime in if Alayne and Anna were up but I think everyone's been swamped this week so here's what I've got that's hopefully not stepping on any toes:

Taurina focused on keeping the rescue party out of sight from the Wild Hunt because like hell was she going to lose more people so close to the finish line.

On reuniting Alayne with Anna Monday, she stayed back to let the sisters do their thing but hovered in case Anna Monday might have held a grudge against Alayne.

Provided Alayne doesn't have any strong reason to stay in Elsewhere, Taurina and the party will return to Elsewhere by Nila's passage, and then Taurina's in for a long hot shower and filling in the paperwork.

Seems legit! The rescue party wasn’t harmed by either Anna or the Wild Hunt afaik, and Alayne looked like she was enjoying herself at college while she was there and probably wants to return. That’ll be Jaunt "autopilot mode" if I'm not notified of any developments to the contrary before I have to write the mingle tomorrow.

As discussed here Blue Diamond/Nila and the Sorority girls could potentially shuttle the entire rescue party to Elsewhere (though she would consider it something that would demand a Price). Not sure if that's something you want to go with, but the option is there if you want it!

One thing I was thinking was that she could ask to be given her tears? Like, for the rest of whatever period of time (maybe a set number of years, maybe the rest of her life), she won't be able to cry, because her tears will Belong To Nila.

Another potential option could be promising to make the Pledge to the Sorority, but that also involves being taken away to live in the Human Zoo in Elsewhere. May not be where you're looking Taurina, but it's there if you want there to be a more significant cost.
