MYSTERIOUS HEADLINER - KINJI
They picked up the other. You made a deal. You’d keep one of the earrings, they’d keep the other, and you’d both go your separate ways.
You’ve always loved music and all your friends said you were talented. Maybe you were, but your crippling performance anxiety kept you from finding out how talented you really were. You couldn’t bear people you didn’t know staring at you while you tried to sing. So the band you and your friends were in was really just a hobby, the group of you messing around together because you knew you’d never go anywhere with it.
But the earring changed all that. You found out by playing around with it that it could project local illusion fields over the wearer. And suddenly people staring at you didn’t matter anymore. They weren’t staring at you, they were staring at the gorgeous illusion you’d created. The band you and your friends were in stopped being just messing around--and suddenly you were both famous and critically acclaimed, all the while living a double life as both your stage persona and the manager of the band.
You’re pretty sure that there’s something going on with the person who took the other earring, though. They get away with a lot of stuff that they really shouldn’t. And if one earring is magic, why wouldn’t the other be? Maybe that’s why they rub you wrong.
All you know is that you really can’t give up your earring now.
Plot Skill: Right Stargem Earring - Wearing this earring allows you to create a full-body illusion using advanced hologram technology, completely obscuring what you look like. This illusion can be a different race, gender, or even species than you. It can also be up to half a foot taller than you, although it can’t be any shorter.

The Doctor's player has final say on this, of course, but it's very likely that some or all of the holographs that were originally set up when Kinji found it were Former Regenerations of the Doctor.(no subject)

ARROGANT HEADLINER - PHILLIP
They picked up the other. You made a deal. You’d keep one of the earrings, they’d keep the other, and you’d both go your separate ways.
You’re talented. You know that. All your friends have told you it. But you’ve always been a bit arrogant and a bit abrasive in some ways. For the longest time, the band you were in never got any traction unless one of the others did the negotiating--and you usually ended up fighting with the people who were hiring you over some matter or another. You heard the words “unreasonable demands” a lot.
But the earring changed all that. You found that it made people more willing to give into your demands. More compliant. More easily persuaded. You started to realize that no matter how you acted out and how much you demanded of people around you, they’d treat whatever you did or said as completely reasonable. There are limits to what you’ll use the earring’s magic for, of course, but not all that many. It’s fun making crazy demands and trashing hotel rooms and getting away with basically anything you want to. You’re a star. There isn’t anything you can’t do.
You’re pretty sure that there’s something going on with the person who took the other earring, though. Sure, they’re only the manager of your musical rivals, but you never see them around when the band’s onstage. And if one earring is magic, why wouldn’t the other be? Maybe that’s why they rub you wrong.
All you know is that you really can’t give up your earring now.
Plot Skill: Left Stargem Earring - Wearing this earring generates a low-level psychic interference field that makes whatever you do or say seem reasonable to the people around you, no matter how weird or offensive it actually is. (The usual Psychic Protection restrictions apply with other Travelers.)

THE MAN WHO FELL TO EARTH - THE DOCTOR
You have your notes back. You don’t have anything else. Not your interstellar tightbeam communicator and certainly not the stargem earrings that are your two main tools for blending in with the humans. (The right constructed an illusionary appearance for you. The left made sure that the humans you were studying never noticed if your mannerisms were wrong.) You’ve been able to reconstruct the right earring in a limited fashion, enough so that you can sort of fake the human thing again, but It can’t completely cover up that there’s something about your looks that is… different. And there’s nothing to cover-up when you act in ways that aren’t human either now.
You’ve managed to get a fake ID (the human you paid for it gave you the alias of ‘Ziggy Stardust’ for some reason that they found completely hilarious) and procure some temporary employment while you try to figure out where to do next. Luckily, your species is fairly strong, so being a roadie is easy. With the right equipment, you could probably rebuild something enough like your tightbeam communicator to contact your advisors and arrange for pick-up and possibly the notes you have would be sufficient enough to satisfy them--but if they aren’t, then it’s all too likely that you’ll lose your grant money and your academic career will suffer a grave setback. Is it really enough to risk it?
But is finishing your studies worth always having to worry about the humans in the black suits capturing you again? Not to mention that some of these disturbances are starting to spook you.
Plot Skill: Design-Your-Own-Alien Form - Allows you (the player) to design “Ziggy’s” alien form and abilities and take it as a skill, with the caveat that their appearance has to hit the sweet spot of being alien enough that it has to be disguised all the time, but not so alien that a localized illusion can’t hide it. (Think bipedal and single headed.) If you need a reference for the kind of power levels we’re looking at, the species list from the walkabout is a good example.

Here's what I've come up with so far:
He'll still be a Time Lord (Because let's be honest, even when he was 'human' he was clearly still the Doctor and still a bit Time Lordy in canon and I want to respect that.)
In THIS universe, the only difference biologically is Time Lords have VERY PURPLE skin. Dark purple/royal purple. You couldn't possibly confuse it for any other colour. Which is why he needs his disguise device. Because purple skin is much harder to hide than two hearts.
I'm still working on the historical differences between the universes, so I don't want to get too detailed where that is concerned right now, since I still have a few days to formulate that.

UNDERCOVER AGENT - DEATH
For all you can understand why someone might flee this kind of kidnapping, you’ve been charged with bringing them back to Area 54 - and there’s a juicy promotion on the line if you succeed. You’re pretty sure they’re part of the Starlight Music Festival in some capacity - whether on the staff or a member of one of the acts, you’re not sure - but the alien’s gone and altered their appearance again, so going undercover and watching for suspicious behavior is your only option.
Especially since your first attempt at grabbing them, the night before the festival, netted you one (1) music group entirely composed of humans. Whoops. Still, there’s a few days left to find them, and you can surely do it in that time… right?
Plot Skill: Home Phone - You confiscated this from the alien fugitive a couple years ago. The boys and girls at the lab figure that it’s some sort of communication device and had been borrowing it in hopes of reproducing it. It’s a good thing they did, because that meant it wasn’t with the rest of the stuff you confiscated from them when they got loose. You know you probably shouldn’t try to use this, in case you bring a fleet of aliens down on the planet… but sometimes you want to. (OOCly, the tight beam communicator can be used to send messages faster than the speed of light, that can override all other signals in the direction it's aimed.)

CONCERT MANAGER - KOHAKU
You need help. Badly. And at this point, you’re not going to ask too many questions about how that help got here, as long as they can haul stuff and herd cats and save a little of your rapidly fragmenting sanity.
Plot Skill: Cat Herding - You can keep a small group of people with diverging agendas focused on the task at hand. This skill works optimally with three to six people, and completely fails on groups of eight or more.

GROUPIE - KITTY
But then the night before the festival took an odd turn while you were waiting to see your favorites rehearse (never mind that you weren’t supposed to be there) - a group of guys in suits just showed up out of nowhere and kidnapped one of the supporting bands. Sure, you’re more ‘glad they didn’t mug your favorites’ than actually upset about the kidnapping happening in the first place, but still, this is… probably a bad thing.
Plot Skill: Undying Devotion - You can lend support and emotional strength to a person or group you truly love, enhancing their abilities in a time of crisis.

STARCROSSED MUSICIANS - JESSE AND JACOB
You both need a little time away from the pressures of your usual bands, sometimes, and so it is that you bumped into each other at an open mic night a few months back - both of you out of your more easily recognisable stage makeup, so by the time you realised you were members of rival bands, you’d already started toward a fast friendship. You see no reason to give that up just because of the tensions between your respective bands, so you’ve been calling each other in your off time and hanging out whenever you can both finagle it.
Lately that’s turned into joint jamming sessions, even though you’d first wanted to keep the music out of it… and that’s leading to the realisation that you just plain work better together than either of you does with your current bands. Maybe it’s time to ditch those guys and strike out on your own.
(Each of you knows about your own front man’s fancy earring, but not that the other band leader has one as well.)
Plot Skill: Work In Concert - If the two of you team up on a project of any sort, it goes far more smoothly than either of you tackling it alone would.

Jesus "Jesse" Marquez was friends with Kinji since they were kids, so it was not surprising they started a band together in high school, that would eventually become the Shooting Stars. Jacob was a part of the band, too, in the very early years before the earrings, but he never got along well with Kinji. He and Jesse not only played together, but also had a clandestine romantic relationship. They were both pretty hot tempered, and so a messy break-up and parting of ways was inevitable, especially because Jesse refused to ever naysay Kinji out of loyalty. Jacob left the band to be on his own for awhile, and eventually joined Phillip's band for his own reasons.
When he and Jesse ran into each other recently, Jesse was happy to see an old friend, and someone he could complain to about the direction the band was taking. He told Jacob that Kinji was now band manager, and they have a new front man who's taking things in a direction he's not sure he likes. A little harmless bitching has led to a couple of jam sessions, and now Jesse's not so sure about his place in the band - he loves his best friend, but he's always wanted to go in a grittier, less flashy direction, and Jacob is making him question his choices.

Now that a few years have passed and he's had the time to cool off (and grow up a little), he's recently reconnected with Jesse and... well, it's hard not to notice how well they gel together, and that brings up memories of how well they played together. Who knows, maybe he's thinking it's time for another change...
